it works...Jersey gets rid of a big contract, gets a legit shooter, and two young players to add to their rebuilding process...toronto gets VC, I know most raps fans are biased in their hate of vince, but him as a 2ndary scorer, that would be great..thoughts?...please be gentle w/ the personal hate

The deal makes much more sense to Jersey than it does for Indy. JO's contract is bigger but it's a year shorter than Vince's, which would be huge for the Nets. They wouldn't have to waste a year waiting for Vince's contract to run up while of Jefferson and Harris are in their primes. In the meantime, if O'Neal is healthy, they should still be able to compete for a 7 or 8 spot in the East (since every team has some kind of chance.)
However for the Pacers, they are adding a guy with a shaky attitude to a team plagued with character issues. They'd have no one to assume to role of the leader, I hope by now they know Carter shouldn't be in that spot. And it's difficult to see him fitting into the lineup with Granger and Dunleavy there. Both are having excellent years and seem to be big parts of their future. Throwing in Vince for the next 4 years just doesn't seem to fit.

Roy's the best player I've played against outside this guy from my hood in Queensbridge, guy named Mike Chaplain. He went to jail when he was 15 years old. He was the best player I played against, now it's Brandon Roy.

But what can you get for Jermaine O'Neal?
O'Neal doesn't want to be there, doesn't fit the system, often injured and gets paid max dollars. This is probably the best deal they can get.
They have Diogu playing the same spot as O'Neal. The same guy that Larry Bird is so high on that he made the (so far)disastrous trade to get him.
I think if Indy gets VC, they will make the playoffs. He is an upgrade over Daniels and probably Dunleavy. Dunleavy isn't a SG, and asking him to play that role is killing the defense.

You won't catch flak from me. I'm by no mean a VC fan. However with the emergance of Jose Calderon, the magic capspace that everyone thinks we are going to have in 2009 is not there. If you could get him on the cheap and by cheap I think you have to give up more than you did in your deal. I think you have to seriously consider it. A player of his calibre motivated or not is better than anyone we currently have on the wings. Lastly, this isn't the same Raptor team he quit on alot has changed.

Well its not going to be Vince, but the trade we make in the summer of 2008 or during 2009 for our expiring contracts, will be a player with some question marks. Someone likely in his last 2-3 good years with some question marks. Those are the type of players you can get for expirings alone.

The funny part is despite the fact that I don't think for many reasons that it could happen. I truely believe that it would be hailed as the prodigal son returns and not the other way around. Most fans aren't as rabid as us realgm'ers and believe me the first time he'd drop 30 in game where Bosh was struggling, half the real gm'ers would forgive and forget.

Yes CC, VC's days are numbered in NJ. I don't think Larry Bird would be dumb enough to trade J.O for VC... as I'm certain Indy is also looking to rebuild, and don't need V.C.
I'm by no means a VC fan, but come on people, admit it... the idea of VC playing along side an evolved All Star in Chris Bosh, and an emerging Jose as the next "potential" Steve Nash with a guy like BC, and the current management is quiet interesting. Just like the fans took it personally, so did VC. VC is better than any wing we have or had since his departure.
A few games here and there, like someone mentioned, the fans will love and forget, lol.
IF (a big IF) B.C sees a chance to rape someone in a deal... I'm certain BC will at least consider it.
Meh, I dunno... maybe it's all the folks posting the VC YouTube Videos in the game thread that has made me soft and compassionate towards VC.
