A new Nets' deal we can help to faciliate?
Now it seems like the next move for the Nets is moving VC...Here's a way we can help the Knicks get him, and benefit:

Our part in it - Raef, Miles and Jack for Marbury and Magloire:
Blazers dump Miles, get more capspace and help on the boards with Magloire. Marbury, like Francis, will not wear a Blazers uniform. Along with Magloire being an expiring, this trade opens up 3 roster spots for the summer, not to mention sends Jack away so the spaniards would be the primary backups at the backcourt.

They'll be stuck with a unhappy Carter for awhile then.
Granted, they'd obviously want more for Carter, but his value is gonna just continue to sink. He hasn't played with an once of passion since he signed his contract this past summer, and that likely won't improve with Kidd gone and the team officially in rebuild mode.
With all that said, it does beg the inevitable question of "Why would Portland want Carter?" I doubt they'd have a serious interest in him, which is why I'd only give such a lowball offer. If they laugh us off the phone, so be it.

RJ would be a fantastic fit for Portland, but I think the Nets will want to build around Harris and RJ.

I have a feeling NJ will think they can
get a good deal on VC like with Kidd.
Gotta give Rod Thorn a lot of credit, he's made some really great trades for NJ in the recent past.
*He traded away Eddie Griffin for Richard Jefferson and Jason Collins on draft day.
*He let Martin and his bad knee walk away to the Nuggets.
*He got Vince Carter for absolutely NOTHING. The Raptors got less for Carter than the Grizzlies just got for Gasol.
*He passed on Shareef Abdur-Rahim when he couldn't live up to the standards of their medical exam.
*Now he's on the brink of getting Devan Harris, 2 first round picks and a collection of expiring contracts for an over-the-hill Kidd.
The guy has a strong track record of making really smart decisions.

He also got Jason Kidd in his prime for Stephon Marbury.
Portland would be crazy to go after Vince Carter. His shot selection is terrible. His defense is terrible. Even when he's "energized," he doesnt win anything.
I dont think the Nets would consider moving Jefferson, but he'd be a great pick up for Portland.

Which is why I want nothing to do with "Half man, half a season!"

There is pretty much no way we could pry RJ from the Nets, or at least none that Portland would like. As for getting VC even if we could get him for cheap isn't worth it. His contract is huge and for 3-4 years. On top of that are really don't see a trade to the blazers would energize VC. Considering how formidable the west is getting for the next 2-3 I don't he'd want to be on the blazers who will still have growing pains.

Why would Portland consider VC to begin with? The Blazers should consider jumping into the Kidd sweepstakes since it appears that Devean George of all ppl blocked the trade on yesterday and going 0-11 on top of that.
