Turns out this was an automatic clause given to him due to the type of deal he signed. He just exercised it.

Brutal. I wonder with this hold up if other teams will come in and try to make a last ditch effort for Kidd.

Maybe the Cavs?

doubtful. Unless something complicated works itself out I don't see Rod Thorn committing to lesser package just to appease kidd. Im sure if anything Rod will feel like he at least got some currency with Kidd should he returned. At least now he can say "I tried my best, I had you traded, its not my fault". The only thing that would result is that all of NJ and most of Dallas will hate him for a very long time.

You can't combine exceptions with other players. This was supposed to be used on Antoine Wright. In the deal, they were already giving the maximum amount of cash considerations in $3 million. Pulling off a trade will be incredibly hard now if Cuban doesn't want to give more pieces, which he doesn't want to.

you can't package players with trade exceptions. Although I do think there has to be someway they will be able to get creative and work this out. 2.2 million is too small of an obstacle to overcome for a trade of this magnitude. I mean it is literally less then 10% of the of the total package.

No problem. It's good to learn because...knowledge is power!

...I couldn't find the Family Guy picture where they quote this from School House Rock.

Just subsitute George with Eddie Jones and it should work.

Wow. I had no idea a scrub like George could get a no trade clause. Funny stuff. But if his deal is only 2 mil or so - there has to be some way to make it work. Sign a retired vet to the minimum and throw him in....

George was an expiring. Jones still gets paid after this season.

Oh and before anyone plays around with the Trade Checker/Machine, I don't think Thorn comes up with a deal where Kidd is traded alone since we all know Ratner won't pay 15 guarenteed contracts.

Successful Trade Scenario
Congratulations on a successful trade.
Due to New Jersey and Dallas being over the cap, the 25% trade rule is invoked. New Jersey and Dallas had to be no more than 125% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.

I highly doubt Thorn goes after Hassell because of his contract. George is an enticing piece because of his contract.
