Who would the Cavs most like to face in the finals?
There is a chance that the Cavs can make the finals again this year. We already beat Detroit last year and this year we are 2-0 against the Celtics. We may not be the best team in the East but there is no one that we aren't capable of beating in a 7 game series.
Having said that what would be the best matchup for us in the finals. It is clear that there are some teams in the West that we have a very tough time with like San Antonio and Phoenix. Even Denver seems to have us greatly outmatched in talent (they have 3 players arguably among the top 20 best in the league) and would probably destroy us like they did the other night. New Orleans and Dallas also have so much more talent than us.
I think the only two teams that we have a good shot against are the Lakers and Utah. We do fairly well against half court teams like these with average defense. They have some imposing bigs but we can usually match their bigs in rebounding and almost in points with Z/Gooden and Varejao. But they way Utah is playing lately (17-3 in last 20) and with the addition of Gasol for the Lakers, I'm not sure we'd beat either of these two as well.
The west is wide open and anyone of those 7 teams might come out of the west. But can we beat any of them?

I know every Cavs fan knows this already, but no one and I mean no one sees us as a threat come playoffs.
We have the upper hand on Boston and Detroit, so I think we're a high chance of making finals.
Who would we prefer to play? Im gonna go with Lakers, even with Gasol. LeBron loves beating Kobe, and what better to do it on the biggest stage of all.
Oh and Outlaw, not all Ballboys are absolute gimp posters

I was also going to say the Lakers. You know 95% of the nation would say we had no chance since we came through the weak East (after beating both Detroit and Boston).
I love the fact that we are so underrated right now. Everyone is blowing it over Boston and Detroit while we are just chugging along waiting for everyone to get healthy and putting ourselves back in a great position for another playoff run.
We are still the defending EC champs, Im not sure why people are forgetting that. This team at 100% is as good as anyone in the league, especially if Larry keeps playing anywhere near how he has the last few weeks.

ill play the west all stars if it gets us back to the finals.
but i also dont want to get the mindset that we can just show up and beat the pistons if we would play them. we embarrassed the hell out of them last year and they are going to want some serious payback. granted i still think we can beat them (a long with boston), but the fellas cant get that "piston mindset" come playoff time (and i dont think lebron would let them get that way anyways)

I picked the Lakers because out of the only teams that I can actually see making it to the Finals (Spurs, Suns, Lakers, and Mavericks if they get Kidd) They are the team we can match up the best against. For whatever reason we have just had the Lakers number over the last few years. Gotta go with past success. Nothing personal there.
Plus LeBron has always done well on Kobe and Z has always done well on Gasol. Maybe Bynum would be the X-Factor, who knows... They would just be the lesser of all the evils to me.
Obviously I would pick teams like the Blazers, Jazz, Hornets, Warriors, and Rockets over the Lakers, but I dont see any of those teams with a very legit chance of getting to the Finals anyway.

Yeah I noticed that too, looks like their whole board just think we'll be chopped liver for the Cavs to feast on huh ? It's like you guys don't even recognized the fact that you play against us injured both times, or the fact that we just added Gasol.Rox_Nix_Nox wrote:Y r all you guys saying Lakers? Yeah i know you guys beat us with and without bynum. But didn't you guys beat san antonio twice last year only to be swept in the finals?
Keep in mind that regular season success mean nothing at playoff time.I like how truculent you guys are.

The question asked only who would want to face in the Finals, not who would we easily beat. That really doesn't mean we think the Lakers would be a piece of cake for us. It just means that from Western Conference contenders some of us think we would have best chance against the Lakers. Is it that hard to understand?
