Nets rebuild with kidd

Post#1 » by Sharcm1 » Thu Feb 14, 2008 4:29 pm

I don't think this trade is happening, at least not before the deadline.

Thank god for Devean george because without kidd this team is nothing. I say keep kidd and show him that the nets can win. Dallas isn't winning a championship with him anyway. Too much to go thru in the west. Boston is going to win.

But with kidd we can get close if not there if we do these trades.

The Miller trade with mags, boki and marcus gone.

Minor fix right now. Marcus isn't doing much. Confidence is low and he has rebounded from the injury. memphis needs a point and he can help them.

RIght now line up looks like this

kidd, carter, rj, krstic and boone with armstrong, miller, wright, williams and swift off the bench.

THen trade carter and swift this summer for JON if JON is healthy.

Draft a 2/3 player and point guard

resign armstrong to the vets min

Kidd, miller, RJ, JON, krstic
Armstrong, wright, Draft pick, williams, boone

Thats a good team. Talents mesh well. If JON is the player he used to be then this works out great.

krstic and oneal will work well together. miller would spread the floor and kidd will push it and run with miller and rj. closest thing we can have to the 2001 nets with kidd, kittles, rj, kenyon.

It would the closest thing to the old Nets teams, however those Nets teams weren't that good. Today even the best of those Nets teams would likely be out in the second round. Besides that we would be assuming a lot of salary and injury risk to basically make a 1 year run.

At this point we need to get this trade with the Mavs done. Devin Harris is a really solid player. He is a great athlete, great defensively, and is a solid shooter. The 1st round picks we get would be enormously helpful in facilitating trades with both VC or RJ should VandeThorn decide to go that route. The cap savings would be important because there are a decent number of good free agents that will be available this summer (including Gilbert Arenas who Thorn loves).

At the end of the day I trust in Thorn and think that he is going to use then next 6 months to shape the course of the franchise going into Brooklyn and at the same time leave his legacy.

Can't see a way to appease Kidd and make this it work again in NJ .

He's acted way to immature this season , the front office knows they have to make a fresh start , although Kidd still was clearly the Nets best player .

If this trade doesnt go done, I am for that.

Kidd
Miller
RJ
Krstic
Boone

Works for me. JO works for financial reasons. If he can come back healthy, that is a plus.

Every one thinks this is about a championship when all this is about a contract extension. that is why kidd demanded a trade because he wanted more money. he picked the mavs because he knew they were the only team willing to give him and extension worth what he wanted.

If the nets offer him a one year extension and make the moves I stated about this team is right back on top. Kidd is still playing at a high level. we only see the kidd that wants to leave. the nights where he is trying to prove something he is the kidd of old.

Why not give him the one year. whats the diff. we aren't getting under the cap any time soon. and he can send the nets off to ny.

The team isn't good enough.

Kidd's 35 years old. You don't rebuild around 35 year-olds. You pick up 35 year old's to get over the hump.

Kidd is an ironman but he does get tired if he's forced to play huge minutes at a playoff intensity level. You saw that even during NBA finals years. And it can only gets worse as he gets older. (Unless he injects some magic Clemens vitamin shots :P)

Quite sure this trade goes thru no matter what. Either Devean unblocks the deal after conversation with Mavs representives or they will add someone else for salaries.
99% it is going to be done. Devin Harris will be a good addition to this team.

*shrug* Everyone has a price. That was his price for staying on a mediocre team waiting to be relocated.

He's going to shop himself around, ring-chase and get his next contract somewhere else, which might not even be Dallas. I think even if for somewhat less money the Nets would have offered him.

I believe he wants to do better than his childhood friend Payton, and get a ring when he is still good enough to be a major contributor, and not just relegated to a bench contributor.

Outside of NBA basketball, Kidd probably doesn't really have much of a life. So he's having a midlife/end-of-career crisis, same one that made him join Team USA. And he's scared of ending his career ringless.

yahoo's NBA columnist had an interesting take on Kidd's saga, and mental psyche. I don't know how much is true, how much is media drama... I thought it was a good read

Deep down, Jason Kidd always regretted turning down the San Antonio Spurs. Somehow, it felt too easy for him. Everything had been stacked neatly for the Nets point guard

Crittenton, Lowry, Conley, Juan Carlos Navarro

The last thing the Grizz need is another young PG. Nets are better off with Harris going forward than Kidd, sorry, I know it hurts, but its the truth.

With george blocking the trade does that mean the wright deal is also on hold? Cos I can see people using wright in other trade scenario's

I feel like a kid (not a JKIDD) at christmas. Just counting down the days to the deadline and seeing what goodies Mr Thorn will leave under the tree

I want to see this go down just to see Memphis add another young PG prospect.

Conley, Critt, Lowry, Navarro (not so young but whatever), and Marcus.
