I agree with Petey.
There has to be some team out there that feels Joey is worth a 2nd rounder.
I kinda feel bad for him, because I don't see him playing with any less effort than most guys. He has shown some nice aggressive moves this year, and his jumpshot has improved alot since he first arrived.
Hard to blame the guy when he cant get any PT or rythym and he never will hear as long as we have a glut of swings.

I wouldn't be surprised if his agent asked for a trade. Joey needs to play somewhere this year in order to get another contract.
9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

excellent point, you can spend as little as five minutes looking back at drafts to realize that after about the 6th or 7th pick there are tons of guys taken who don't pan out. Bad picks are one thing but if you think a guy drafted 16th overall has a chance to be a "bust", you need to adjust your expectations.

Raps already picked up the option on his contract for next year. And wright trade is part of the kidd package, so not comparable. But some team might be willing to use a trade exemption on him and give up a 2nd, didnt we get 2 2nds for aaron williams.Fairview4Life wrote:I wouldn't be surprised if his agent asked for a trade. depend who the second round pick is - a lot of teams throw them away (and for good reason).
If it's a Chris Taft type guy, sure he's worth a 2nd. But if it's a valued prospect like Scola, Ukic, Eliyahu, etc. then there's no way i'd give it up for Joey.
I think at this point, you have to take a second for Joey - he's not going to be a part of this team's future (although he could be a solid pro if put in the right situation, where they will live through his mistakes - Minnesota? Miami?)
Draft or questionable prospect, and hope you hit the lottery (e.g. Redd, Gilbert, Shawn Williams, Big Baby, and the list goes on....)

Exactly. Teams are extremely fortunate to get a starter in the mid-to-late 1st round. You're looking at somebody that maybe will fill out the bottom of your rotation at that point. Getting an all-star-type player or a superstar is practically impossible.raptorscam wrote:-= original quote snipped =-

Please tell me that Joey is worth more than that?
Why would you expect more? Wright is worth more because if he sucks in his new environment you don't have to still pay him in 2008/2009
