Matt Carroll. Sounds like he has been in a recent shooting slump.
Is this the shooter we are looking for? I don't know how much this would help us. He isn't making too much of an impact in Charlotte.
This might be one of those cheap deals to keep us cap friendly for the 2 Joshes.

He is shooting 40% from 3. I could live with a shooting slump like that.
He is an expirer making 5.2 million. Worth a shot.

So we pass on a true 3 point shooter like Kyle Korver who brings his game night out and we're resorting to Matt Carroll who makes even more money..........That's pretty frustrating to me!
Matt's in a slump right now, but yet he's still not attempting the 3 pointer he once was, and I hope any talks fall flat. He's not a expiring contract like many of the salary sites list.

Not sure how cap friendly he is. He has 5 more years on his deal at $21.4M. That's 5M next year with the salary going down. He could be helpful if used right, but I kind of hoped we could zero in a shooter or 2 that could also be useful on perimeter D like Azubuike, Pietrus, or Barnes (all free agents in off season) or Udoka or maybe some of the guys you see on the Portland or Toronto rosters. Of course none of the players I listed are really acquirable right this minute.
I would be more up for a Matt Carroll acquisition earlier in the season, whereas now it seems too little too late. I think his contract would mean that Josh Childress is gone over the summer (if not sooner). I don't think this is necessary a bad thing, but I kind of hoped that if we accepted that he was gone we'd add a better piece to the puzzle. I would only consider adding Matt Carroll after thoroughly exhausting any trade possibilities for Mike Miller, who though he'll cost more would give a much more complete player to add to the rotation. Having said that any good long range shooter adds a dimension to the roster that is sorely missing.

Anyone know what else would be required in the deal to accommodate the BYC math?
Nevermind, I was being lazy. Did it myself.
The easiest trade cap wise would be
Matt Carroll
Othella Harrington (expiring)
for
Lo Wright
Shelden Williams
Other ways to do it would be to add Nazr Mohammad's bad contract or Adam Morrison.
Carroll and Morrison would mean for Zaza and Lue.
Carroll and Nazr would mean Zaza, Lo Wright, and AJ.
In theory Felton would work, but would they really do that?
Carroll and Felton for Childress, Shelden, and Salim works math-wise.
BYC deals require the teams to normally agree of swapping crap.

Weird, ESPN approves it, but RealGM doesn't.

SF? The Hawks have 2 players who are clearly SFS in Chil(who we put at the 2) and Marvin and another 2 guard in Joe who is 6'7 235. With Chil likely gone next year...you can play Carroll at the 2 and Joe at the 3 if this trade were to go down. Miller would be ideal but you can't wait around for the perfect deal.
