Chad Ford Chat - 2/14/08

Post#1 » by bango_the_buck » Thu Feb 14, 2008 6:52 pm

Some interesting tidbits:

Ted Scottsdale Az: Milwaukee fan here. what dose Milwaukee half to do to compete and win. There seems to be alot of termoil inside the clubhouse. They need a leader,I think a proven coach or player possible doug collins could be a next gm. Herb Kohl needs to step down as owner. My question to you Chad is how to fix the Bucks.

SportsNation Chad Ford: (1:31 PM ET ) The talk is that GM Larry Harris is in trouble. That's too bad. I like Larry and I think he's done a good job as GM. I think Kohl may be more to blame for some of their problems than Harris. I don't think Doug Collins is the answer. If they make a move, it should be getting an executive from a winning culture. As for moves, I keep hearing that Michael Redd might be their chip -- though questions about his health and 3 years, $34 million left on his contract are a lot to swallow.

sam(boca raton): I know I should be happy with getting Marion but the Heat arent done are they?

SportsNation Chad Ford: (1:24 PM ET ) No ... it sounds like they are going to rebuild on the fly. They have two big expiring contracts in Ricky Davis and Jason Williams. Combined they account for about $15 million in expiring deals ... so they have a lot of options. I think their interest in Mike Miller is real. They need a shooter to put around Marion and Wade. If they could turn the other expiring contract into a young point guard or center ... they would be very formidable next year. I've even heard they'd be willing to let go of their lottery pick this year for the right deal. One option for Miami -- Davis and Williams for Miller, Kyle Lowry and Brian Cardinal. Cardinal has a 2 years, $13 million left on his deal, which is kind of ugly. However, it gives them four starters ... in Lowry, Wade, Miller and Marion. If they could score a nice big in the lottery ... they'd be in very good shape next year.

Get Miami on the phone Larry! If Kohl is still allowing you to do such things...
Scott Skiles on being compared by reporters to Hall of Fame coach Pat Riley: "If I thought you guys knew anything, I'd be flattered."

Mo to the Heat makes a ton of sense for both teams. We know Miami likes him and he would be a good fit alongside Wade. If the Bucks were able to make a deal involving Mo for the Heat's first and expirings that would be a very nice move in my opinion.

I was also interested in Ford's comment about Hinrich possibly being available. Unfortunately, I still don't think the Bucks and Bulls are good trade partners but that's a guy I would love to see the Bucks make a move to get.

If the Heat are willing to offer up their first to get Kyle Lowry and Mike Miller, the Bucks should at least step into the mix and offer Mo and additional pieces to see if they can get that first-round pick. Again, we know the Heat like Mo (whether they like him for nearly $9M a year is the question) so if they're looking for a shooter at the PG position the Bucks should be talking to them in my opinion.

well you can offer, but I would take Miller and Lowry over anyone the Bucks would pair with Williams.

I believe so, since JWill/Mo make essentially the same and CV is still on his rookie deal.

GAD would have to confirm though.

The Heat could use some depth at center after trading Shaq so how about:

Mo/Villanueva/Gadz for Haslem/J.Williams/2008 first

Works for me.

The trade checker said no, but that's not always acurate. The %s match up though because J will is 34%, Mo is 24%, and CV is 10%. Is Mo still BYC?

Does Gadz even count as depth?

Blow up the Bucks in two easy steps:

Trade #1

Milwaukee trades:
Mo Williams
Charlie Villanueva
Jake Voskuhl

Miami trades:
2008 first round pick
Jason Williams
Alonzo Mourning (would be cut)

Trade 2

Milwaukee Trades:
Michael Redd

Chicago Trades:
2008 lotto protected pick
Kirk Hinrich
Joe Smith
Adrian Griffin

How 'bout dem apples.

Miami might do that one, I doubt Chicago gives up both Hinrich and their pick for Redd.

Mo to Miami works for Jason Williams if both add secondary filler. So something like my deal above would work. Or Mo and Gadzuric for that package would work. But I can't see them giving up their pick if they take back Danny G.

My thinking on that one is Redd is too much for Hinrich. But Hinrich and their unprotected 1st is too much for the Bulls. I'd ask for either their lotto protected pick, or Ty Thomas, or Thabo and a future 2nd.
