Miller for Expiring Contracts

Post#1 » by S.I.C. GM » Thu Feb 14, 2008 3:58 pm

The Nets may not be done. One source said they were talking to the Grizzlies again about Mike Miller for pieces including Bostjan Nachbar and Magloire.

I am not sure about this. Miller has two more years at $9+ mil each.

Harris
Miller
RJ
Nenad
Boone

Looks cool on paper. If we cant get ride of VC, Miller coming off the bench could work too.

I would imagine this would be because we are either going to trade VC and or RJ for a big man or expirings and picks.

In my opinion Miller is at least as good as RJ if not better.

His contract is a lot friendlier.

Looks like Rod is looking to build a West Coast style run and gun team again, maybe anchored by a legit post up big man like JO or Brand for half court sets.

That would be a great trade. Maybe we should throw in Wright. Miller will be taking all of his minutes anyway. If it goes through, Kidd staying might not be that bad a deal.

Miller is the 3 point threat this team deperately needs and he can play 3 positions.

This would be a very good trade. This team has desperately needed a catch and shoot player since Kerry Kittles left. The biggest problem with our big 3 (as compared to Boston's big 3) was the fact that none of them were really good shooters. Drive and kick outs accomplished nothing but lower % shots. Harris and Miller would both be good additions to change that facet of the team.

I think there is also a chance a deal like this would be insurance to help appease Kidd if in fact the trade doesn't go through. There is no other team out there that can offer what the Mavs agreed to and Rod Thorn is too smart to settle for 50 cents on the dollar. This trade is Kidd's only shot to get off the Nets this year so Thorn will have to make some other moves to at least make it appear to him that we have a chance in the postseason.

this doesn't make much sense if we're looking to rebuild. Maybe after this Kidd trade is completed, we're looking to still compete in the East since Harris could fit in well and Miller would be a nice addition. His contract doesn't make much sense unless we ride out this season and then trade either VC/RJ in the offseason.

I think Miller makes the most sense as an RJ replacement with JKidd still on the team. If Kidd leaves, I don't think Miller makes a lot of sense. Although if we get Harris for Kidd I think we will be a lot more competitive then most people think. Harris will be able to bury a lot more of the open looks that he will get from RJ/VC then Kidd did, and at the same time he will improve us defensively.

The biggest problem is going to be that our big guys are going to totally regress without Kidd and replacing his rebounding is going to be almost impossible.

This is AMAZING NEWS!!!
It puts us in a great positition if we decide to rebuild and if we decide to keep Kidd.

-If the Kidd trade goes down a competitive core of Harris,Miller,RJ and Vince is quite deadly and with that we also rebuild with a Harris who is already a top 3 up and coming PG that can get MUCH better and the remainder of our great young core(MW,Sean,JB and Nenad) with all that we're set to be competitive for now and the years to come, maybe a single transitional year but aside from that we took the Lakers guide book on how to rebuild and stay competitive and re-wrote it.
Also dont forget RJ and Miller are still very young they're only 27 years old after all.
Ohhh and before I forget with all those expirings we have thanks to the Kidd deal we might even wanna be super competitive and sign a big free agent next year as well?

-If we Keep Kidd Miller is really that one missing piece we needed he's a dead on shooter we could really really use.

I was joking around on this after the Gasol trade. I said Magloire, Nachbar, and Wright. I said it was a joke and remembered that they were all expirings. I'm one off with saying Wright will be part of the deal, but wow...

With the pieces we'll trade for Miller, It's going to be hard to match JO's contract.

Good Point!

I say we drop the Miller hunt and trade VC. Unless Thorn is sending VC somewhere else?

All I know is if we trade for JO, we need to trade one of our bigs. Frank's just going to get confused and end up putting SeanWill or Boone at the 1.

Miller is a natural SF and his game fits better with Vince rather than with RJ. For one Vince actually finds the open man. A Harris/VC/Miller/Boone/Kristic lineup is still pretty deadly. Miller will get open looks simply from the doubles Vince gets. As good as RJ gets he is pretty much a black hole out there. Playing him together with Miller makes no sense

I'd love to get Miller, especially if it will only cost us Nachbar and Magloire. Get it done!
