GSW/Mavs/Nets

Post#1 » by rcg » Thu Feb 14, 2008 8:43 am

Since George is balking at the big trade with the Nets, he might accept a spot with GSW. Let the Nelsons make this swap and everybody wins.

GSW sends Pietrus to Nets
GSW sends O'Bryant to Nets

Dalllas sends George to GSW
Dallas sends Diop to GSW

Everything else in the Dallas/Nets trade stays the same.

All expiring contracts. Diop gets a few minutes with GSW that O'Bryant does not. MP And DG find a temporary home. O'Bryant gets a tryout with the Nets.

One of those 1st roudn picks better be sent Golden State's way for facilitating Kidd to Dallas. Otherwise, forget about it.

George does not want to be swapped anywhere because of the Bied rights factor.

The Warriors also won't be that eager to do favors for West rivals.

I thought for about a second about a Pietrus-George switcharoo as a way of trying to get around Devean's hesitancy... then I thought: why on earth would the Warriors want to help Dallas get Kidd?

I'm sure George will eventually come around. But if he doesn't, Whoo-hoo! (Except that there is something to be said for the ever-increasing talent and craziness coming to the West... these playoffs should be fun).

Warriors would do a Pietrus/O'Bryant for Stackhouse deal if that would help somehow.

You think turk3d? Over $15 mil for the next two seasons? For another swingman? I don't know if that's in the cards.

crazyyafrican had it right, we better be getting some compensation if we're going to be helping a West rival get Kidd. An old swingman and a lumbering C Nellie would never play don't cut it.

dont see it happening that the Warriors help out DAL here, unless we can get Brandan Bass and not Diop..

just send George to CLE, they need anything over there and Newble's deal should do it

I think he's an expiring next year.

I am not looking for GSW to do a favor for Dallas. I figure the deal will go through one way or another. GSW will not prevent Kidd from going to Dallas. But it could be an opportunity to take advantage of the situation and make an incremental improvement to the Warriors' roster.

Sure, Bass would be much better than George or Diop for GSW if it can be done. I doubt Dallas gets that desperate, and the salaries don't match without further tweaking. I tried to do a minimal change of the Mavs/Nets deal.

George's agent says it is about the Bird rights but maybe it is about playing with a playoff team. Those Bird rights aren't going to get him anything anyway. And he just wore out his welcome in Dallas.

It's about money and getting a new contract. George is simply being used as an expiring in this deal which means that New Jersey is not likely going to sign him next year for anything substantial and he knows it. He's just looking out for himself. Why should he do anything to help Dallas either. You may have a real problem. New Jersey may have to agree to extend him in order to complete this deal or perhaps Dallas needs to buy him out instead of Stack. I don't know, it's a pretty sticky situation for both these teams, especially Dallas.
