Bostjan Nachbar vs Carlos Delfino
Who would you rather have?
Delfino has been playing very well in Toronto's system.
He really likes to shoot the ball, even when a pass would be the correct basketball play. He's shooting over 40% from 3 this year, and is a solid defender. He is extremely tough but sometimes shows a lack of basketball IQ. Solid rebounder. Decent ball handler. Seems to always play on winning basketball teams. Decent athlete.
Nachbar.
Seems to have regressed a bit this year. Showed glimpses of brilliance last year. Big body, nice size. Good athleticism for a European. Good shooter when and only when he gets his feet set. Can slash a bit. Nice first step. Will dunk on you if you're not careful. Surprises people. Poor rebounder.

I like both of these guys alot. But i'm going to have to go with Delfino, he's just does more while he's on the court. He's a great rebounder for a guard, he can handle the ball, and he's a good hustle guy.

2 different types of players. Delfino is more valuable, though, if you want your ball rotation to stop, you pass it to him. Even worst, having Delfino and Hump on the floor at the same time, trying to get some ball movement. lolll

Nachbar has struggled with his shot this season, and that's the strongest aspect of his game. Delfino's shot selection from behind the arc (by which I mean his 'comfort zone', three feet beyond the line) is atrocious, but he does hit them at 40%.
Plus, Delfino is the better rebounder, assists guy (calling him a good passer left a bad taste in my mouth, but his rare passes do lead to easy buckets), and defender.

**** your asterisk.

Delfino is a streak shooter. No ifs, buts, or maybes about that.
He can open up a can full of whoop-ass and go 5-5 from jacking ill advised (and very deep. If the bucket was in Miami, he'd be at Yellowknife.) threes or give you a 1-11 chuck-fest of failure.
The good thing is he will also slash and drive. Find the open man. Rebound. Defend.
Nachbar does not.

Nachbar reminds me of a shorter version of Bargnani, and worse at defense. Very streaky shooter, but ice cold when his shots fall in. Plus, like Bargnani, Nachbar is an atrocious rebounder (although he might be better than Bargs).
Delfino would be a better fit on more teams, as he is more well-rounded as a player, but his shot selection scares me, a lot. He is like a Keith Bogans, IMO. He has a good jump shot, but he doesn't have the IQ to utilize it effectively.
I'll take Delfino, though.

Really? I know he will attack the basket, but does he move around without the ball?
Fine, then. I'd take Delfino because he finds the open man. Rebound. Defend.
None of which Nachbar can do.
You know what is funny, one of my friends said that the Raps should get Nachbar. I'm like, "What the hell do you think Kapono is for?"

Delfino has the tools, and skills to be a very good player. He's a solid rebounder for his size. Good ball handling skills. Can shoot, finish around the rim, pass etc... The only thing holding him back is he's got a bad BB IQ it seems.
I'de take Delfino because I think he's more well rounded as a player, and maybe with some experience he'll bring up his IQ and stop being such a chucker offensivly.

When I think about it I see quite a bit of Ginobili in Delfino, and it goes beyond their ethnicity and flopping abilities. Both are great rebounders for their positions (Delfino and Ginobili are top 4 amongst all SG's), both are decent playmakers, good ball handling skills to handle the point, can penetrate and finish around the rim (much less Delfino in this case), solid defenders, good perimeter shooters, and of course, they both flop. What really separates these two is Ginobili has much better shot selection, is a more willing passer, and can create his own shot and hit the mid range jump shot. I think Nachbar is the slightly better offensive choice just because Delfino thinks he's Allen Iverson, but Delfino is better defensively and a better rebounder.

Nachbar sucks at defense and loves to take almost charges. He also has a thing for turnovers. Still like his ability to shoot and slash though.
Delfino.
Delfino.
