Since he played the last two years for Dallas, and the last year on a one year contract the Mavs have Early Bird rights. Early Bird rights means they can go over the salary cap to sign him. (Theser rights were instituted during the Larry Bird time frame which allowed Boston to sign him to a higher contract. This would enable him to be signed at a higher value (possibly) than without those rights. What he needs to realize is that his signing amount is based on his skill level not his Early Bird rights.

One thing is true and always true, people always say the Jazz will struggle to make the playoffs, or will fall short. Always doubted. In recent years, people have been saying that Kidd is getting older, but in face he's having his best year yet. Malone won his MVP around the same age, and he was constantly in the paint, while Kidd is a point guard. He'll be great for another 3 years, you have my word. If he's anywhere near as good as he is now, then this team will be better, especially in the playoffs.

I understand your premise, but Jason Kidd IS NOT having his best year. He really is showing his age more than Malone ever did.

Hmm well perhaps he's not having his best season by many's definition, but I'd say he's having his best all around season. Where he's really down from highs is steals and points, but as a PG, as long as he's still playing good man on man defense, the steals are not necessarily important, I mean look how well Deron holds down most PGs from getting average production, and he gets lets steals. And well scoring has never been a real strength for Kidd, even when he scored 18.7ppg, as he has been a terrible shooter all his career. Yeah I know Iverson has had a poor % most of his career as well, but he's a whole different story.

Yeah I think Kidd is having a wonderful season, its too bad he's stuck with an overrated aging Vince Carter a disinterested Richard Jefferson and NO frontcourt. I think in a different system/team people would notice the type of impact he can still have. Still not worth all that Dallas is willing to give, but the guy can still ball.
