All Star Game in T.O.

Post#1 » by jbraptor » Fri Feb 15, 2008 3:09 pm

Poll Q should be a no brainer! lol

I know its a far ways off from now but I realized that with the recent
success and exposure the Raps are getting around the league and with a successful showing at the upcoming NOrleans Game, i cant stop to think about when Toronto will be hosting the Big Event!!! maybe 2010 or 2011??? Whenever it is I know that I would mortgage my house to get tickets to all the events!!!

The 2010 NBA All-Star Game will be played on February 14, 2010. Memphis, Portland, Sacramento, Toronto, New York, Oakland, and Milwaukee are one of the contenders to host the contest(wiki)

U Crazy.

Anyways... uhhh, of the options on the poll, I'd definitely choose the NBA All-Star Game.

Outside of the poll... I'd love to see the Cheese Rolling Championships held in Toronto. Of course, I wouldn't pay to see it... but still entertaining.
Good Lord, the little stoner's got a point.

I expected to see votes for NBA and Olympics.

Personally I remember in when Toronto lost the bid to Beijing for the 2008 bid, and that really sucked. Hell I sorta even remember when Toronto lost for the 1996 Olympics, when Atlanta won.... but that was rich with scandles.

I was really pissed when Vancouver got 2010, cuz that should spell the end to a successful Toronto bid in the near future.

I wouldnt mind some march madness. I would have the NBA allstar as #1 but would probably have a hard time getting tickets for that. As for march madness that would be an event that I could probably get tickets for. Assuming it would be the 1st or 2nd round not the final 4.

posting this question on an nba board, its kinda obvious what the most popular answer would be. if you posted this question anywhere that was less biased, you'd see a lot more people voting for the olympics, as it is a much more internationally recognized competition, and would draw considerably more attention to our city on a global scale.

The Olympics, NBA All Star Game and FIFA World Cup would all be awesome in Toronto.

Then again I wouldn't complain if the MLB All Star Game came to Toronto.

We had the NHL All Star game a couple of years ago. We had the MLB All Star game when the Jays were at their best. We are getting the MLS game in 2 years. Only one thats left is the NBA All Star game.

The answer has to be the Summer Olympics. Looking at it from the big picture, Toronto is a big Canadian city -- the biggest. But at the end of the day that's what people see, a Canadian city.

If we hosted the Olympics and the world got to see what our city has to offer, our noteriety changes internationally. Jobs would be created, tourism, everything would jump substantially, making everything else in that poll possible.

For one thing, Toronto would have to build an entirely new stadium.. since what we have isn't big enough for all the track events. We'd get an Olympic size stadium, which could possibly host an NFL team in the future, because the Roger's Centre is too small for that. (Realistically, with a maximum capacity of 50,000, our beloved Skydome would instantly become one of the smallest stadiums in the NFL). The ACC would have be to be upgraded, which would open up NBA All-Star, NHL All-Star possibilities.

More professional-quality soccer sites would be built (other than BMO field), opening up possibilities for FIFA coming out here and even 'considering' us as a possible location for a tournament.
