I would suggest the Grizzllies aren't even the most popular NBA brand in Memphis. Though on most nights there more Raptors fans in the forums than there are fans in the stands in Atlanta- which is a shame given the improvements being seen there.

Hi, Belgium here.

Here it has to be the Lakers I guess, closely followed by Celts and Bulls. Media is following DJ Mbenga since he is on our national team.

I'm a Spurs fan myself but the Spurs don't get much attention although Tony Parker was originally born in Bruges (Belgium).

Raps used to have quite a fanbase when Vince was still playing, but as some poster already mentioned nowadays you don't really have a real high profile/media superstar such as Kobe, Tmac, Vince,

I'd probably guess the Lakers.

Is this by number of fans?

China says: Houston Rockets. Now of course not everyone in China follows NBA basketball, but still. That's a lot of fans.

Id say the Rockets and Bucks are probably the most popular in the world right now. Should be pretty obvious as to why I think that too. Didn't the Bucks vs Rockets game get like 200 million viewers in China? lol
Spragga - The greatest trick the Raptors ever pulled was convincing the world that Defense doesn't exist.

I think we are.
With all of the international players that we have, we attract fans from all parts of the world. Don't forget that we are Canadas team, so we have all of the fans from our country.

Not really true. I am sure there are a lot of canadians from the west who would go for the Lakers or Phoenix because of Nash. IMO rest of Canada does not consider the Raps Canadas team but rather Toronto's team and we all know how they hate Toronto :D

Who says they don't know the rules and do you really need to know the history to be a fan. A lot of us here in Canada probably started following the NBA only once Toronto got a franchise. Does that mean that all of those people are not true fans?

Are we just talking about basketball, because Raptors are no where close to being the most popular team in the world. Try Manchester United or Real Madrid for some real fan support.

Most of the rest of Canada doesn't like sports that begin with a B. Toronto's the only place in Canada with 4 major sports teams (3 top leagues) -- everywhere else just has Hockey and/or CFL teams.

EDIT: Whoops, errant "don't".

I went on vacation to Tuks and Caicos in Jan, and one of the dudes that worked there was from Tel Aviv, and every time he saw me in some Raps gear he would say the same thing to me.

"Anthony Parker. He's a good friend of mine! We used to eat in the same restaurant!"

In Korea, it's the Lakers by far.

As posters have pointed out... by sheer number of fans, it's probably the Rockets (because of the huge Chinese contingent), than the Lakers.

However, we MIGHT be able to boast the MOST DIVERSE fanbase.

... but again, that probably goes to the Lakers.
