Chauncey Billups; MVP Race
On most websites and alot of people that I have talked to only have Chauncey around 15th on the race for MVP. I mean we have the second best record in the NBA he's putting up consistent great numbers, his assists are lower then what they were when he finished second a few years back but we had the best record at that time and we are not far off it this year. Where would you rank him?

From what I know everyone that's been MVP has been in the Hall Of Fame so I'm guessing it means something to HOF voters to me I personally don't care but it would be nice to get some respect but on the other hand Detroit likes being the underdog

Chauncey isn't getting consideration because he isn't deserving. He's an All-Star caliber player and probably top 5 at his position, but he's not the same sort of dominating presence that you usually associate with MVP caliber players. His team isn't clearly built around him and you don't see teams throwing 2 and 3 defenders at him. It's arguable if he's even the Pistons most important player (depth at the position aside).
I don't mean any of this as some big criticism of Billups - he's been very very good this year. But it's just not some big disrespect or snub to not mention the guy in relation to the MVP award. I could name a dozen or so players who are clearly ahead of him on my ballot.

I'd give it to Chris Paul if the Hornets finish top two in the West.
His stats as a PG blow every other's out of the water, and is the #2 ranked player in yahoo. Baron Davis is the next player in line but his shooting percentages cost him. He should be an all-star, though. Chauncey is third.
Paul's team is first in the Southwest division with a slight lead over the entire Western conference.
