George's stand does seem pretty silly - he makes $2.4 mil this year, which any team that wants can fit into their MLE over the summer. Is he expecting to make more than the MLE?

As little value as Patrick has for GS, they have little incentive for helping Dallas land Kidd. The Warriors probably don't knock the Mavs out of the playoffs last year if they had Kidd, for instance. Devean George certainly doesn't change that.

That's even worse. The reason Pietrus hasn't been traded is because the Warriors need him in the rotation - if they let him go (without helping a rival in the process), they need to get an equally effective rotation player in return. They certainly aren't going to make the rotation even worse by swapping Pietrus for George.
Maybe if someone sends GS a first round pick, and doesn't detract from their rotation, they help a rival contend. Otherwise, where's the incentive?
I agree with a couple of the posters above, questioning the logic of the Nets buying out Stackhouse. What do you gain? The most money Dallas can send is $3 mil, which not only won't come close to Stack's buyout number - which, given historical precedent might be $13 mil - but those $13 mil are still going to go directly to the Nets cap number (proportionately) for the rest of this season and the next two seasons. It would be tantamount to trading $13 mil for $3 mil, and the $3 mil doesn't even go towards cap savings. Wouldn't the Nets just keep him, or at least try to trade him?
