Shaq disses Nash, calls him "VP"
"In an interview that was shown during the mavs game he said Amare was the president and Nash the vice president of the team...Reggie,Kenny and Charles just laughed at that comment, saying Shaq really needed to educate himself on who is the leader of that team."
Big oaf hasn't even played a single game and he's already disrespecting Nash. And this guy was supposed to improve chemistry?

He's building Amare up. He made it known that's his goal.
Besides, Nash doesn't care if he's the Head of the Department of Agriculture as long as it means that he gets a ring at the end of the season.

On Steve Nash:

Shaq is just bias for obvious reasons. He'll always favor a big man over a guard in relation to who's more important to a team's success. It's been proven for the most part that you need a dominant big to win a championship in the modern era (Jordan is the obvious exception). He's just bias, obviously. That's all.
I actually don't like that quote, honestly. He's smart enough to know that Nash is the man on this team. It's why he texted Nash "I won't let you down" when the trade went through, not Amare. He probably just favors Amare and sees all the potential Amare has. The whole big man "fraternity" and all. But Nash is the leader of this team, without question - the 05-06 season made it clear who makes this team go.

The 2005-06 Suns will always have a special place in my heart

Heh. I didn't "twist" his words, I merely quoted them.
It was definitely a disrespectful thing to say, even if Shaq himself didn't really realize it at the time. Luckily I doubt Nash cares, for reasons you've all explained. You don't become the "consummate floor leader" (to quote Nate Archibald on Nash) by being an egomaniac.
My only worry is that these boneheaded comments become a trend, and that chemistry suffers as a result. It's one thing to insult a thick-skinned person like Nash, but if he starts spouting off about other players like Diaw it could cause problems in the long run.

the best part about all this stuff is that anyone can now say whatever they want because the only person on our team who noticed anything like that was marion
remember when they named tiger cubs at the zoo amare and nash? marion got annoyed, so the next one they named marion and he was annoyed again because it was a girl haha
marion is the only sensitive person who worries about the pecking order, noone else cares

That's a lot of nonsense. YES, Amare may have needed an ego boost over Nash, but no need rank them like beef.
Imagine for a second an alternate universe in which Shaq joined the Lakers for the first time (in the here and now).
He says "Bynum is prez, kobe vice".
Obviously that's a slap in the face to Kobe.
Just common sense. I'm not sure why there's so much disagreement. There's propping someone up and putting someone down. One needn't do both.
LUCKILY, as you were all so quick to point out, Nash is the furthest thing from an egoist and therefore doesn't give a ****. He's too thrilled with the prospect of having a real big man on the team to worry about said big man dissing him in the press.
But it was still worth posting about. And I hope it's not a trend.
