I'm not down with "The Wall" either.

Unless it's an album from these guys.

Who also put out these albums.

So what I'd like to know from my fellow Sonic fans is who is your favorite band from each decade?

1960's
1970's
1980's
1990's

I'm cheating...I have 90 gig of legally owned music on my iPod, so...sorry. I'm not trying to be one of those annoying "oh, indie stuff is better" people, as this is just my own individual taste, and I respect/love every other artist mentioned so far. And I also understand if you hate any artist on my list...

1960's -- [1] The Kinks, [2] The Who, [3] 13th Floor Elevators, [4] The Animals, [5] Chocolate Watchband

1970's -- [1] Black Sabbath, [2] Buzzcocks, [3] Wire, [4] The Police, [5] Neil Young

1980's -- [1] Pixies, [2] Iron Maiden, [3] Killing Joke, [4] XTC, [5] Gang of Four

1990's -- [1] Jesus Lizard, [2] Modest Mouse, [3] Sunny Day Real Estate, [4] Tom Waits, [5] Built to Spill, [6] Dismemberment Plan

2000's -- [1] Death From Above 1979, [2] Mclusky, [3] Interpol, [4] Daft Punk, [5] Arcade Fire

Nice list, Sweezo!
I have just about everything from Wire & XTC, as well as the more conventional Beatles, Zep, Floyd, Stones...

I guess I'll add some non-hippie-ish 80s stuff that I got into at the time: the Cure, Echo and the Bunnymen, the Pixies, Husker Du, Oingo Boingo, Jane's Addiction, REM (pre-Document), Red Hot Chili Peppers (pre-Mother's Milk), Public Image Ltd., U2, Big Audio Dynamite, Dead Milkmen.

From the 70s: the Jam, Ramones, the Sex Pistols, the Clash (pre-Combat Rock), Talking Heads, Blue Oyster Cult, Led Zeppelin.

From the 60s: the Beatles, Dylan, Traffic, Buddy Guy, Miles Davis, Hendrix, Cream.

In the early 90s I got into the same Seattle stuff that most of you probably also did. Then I stopped listening to new music circa 1995 (right around the time Ska made its big comeback) and don't really know what's out there anymore. All that post-1995 stuff Sweezo listed is completely alien to me. Just another sign I'm old.

Don't feel old. I only listen to oldies, and I'm much younger than you. (That is, I'm still in school.)

I was flipping and saw Valerie Bertinelli on with Oprah the other night... what did Eddie ever see in that yakety-yak? Her mouth was moving a mile a minute.

kind of like his fingures. but hey, what can you say, they held it together for 20 years. no small feat that, what with him being a rock star and a raging alcoholic. but they did produce the current bassist in VAN HALEN. and you know what? the kid can play. i have seen them live twice on the reunion tour.

i have probably seen them live 15 times. all with sammy and gary up until this year. they used to put on a really good show with sam, i mean it sounded great. but when they went out with him in 04, well, lets just say ed wasn't in the best "condition". he was pretty messed up and it was clear that the guys were not getting along.

not the case this time around. they put on a great show. you forget that dave and ed are both over 50. i hope they put out some new material with dave. but it was reall special watching those guys, especially watching ed interact with his son wolfgang. and the crowds were amped! pretty cool seing people my age with their 14 of year old kids at the shows, reminded me of when my parents took me to my first VH show in 1986.

Yeah, pretty much. And KeyArena has **** sound...

You know, when VH released their first greatest hits package they had a couple songs they recorded with Dave, and I actually enjoyed them. I'd love for them to do a new album with him.

"Me Wise Magic" and "Cant Get This Stuff No More". both good tunes. " No More" was a little bit looking back and "Magic" was a little bit looking forward. i think this tour has shown that these guys can get along, can still rock like no one else, and deep down, they need each other. obviously i am a huge VH fan and i would love for this to continue.

to this day i remember sitting in my grandparents living room in 1978 listening to the very first VH alubum on head phones. my cousin brought the record over and said "you have to hear this". i went home a few days later and told my mom " i want to play guitar". my parents bought me a cheap little nylon string acoustic, paid for some lessons, and 30 years later i still play guitar every day.
