i actually agree with your first part. id pick pierce over manu (not by much).

but then your argument took a wrong turn at albuquerque...

I'd say they are even, and the only determining factor is what your team needs.

One is better at being "the man", and the other is better at being the ultimate system player. Doesn't make one better and the other worse, IMO.

Pierce. . just think of what either player would do if placed in the others system. . it would have gotten pretty ugly if Manu was trying to be "the man" on this team the past couple years. . whereas i think Paul would have been lauded as pure greatness playing next to Timmy

^ well to be fair this thread is asking about them currently and they both share similar roles. I would take Pierce because I perceive him to be a more complete player but I have to admit Manu has looked impressive lately.

does that mean they are even? cause things got REALLY ugly in boston with pierce and manu has been seen for what he brings to a championship club.

how is that an intangible? It is a measured stat. Manu's leadership might be an intangible...

No disrespect to Manu, but I think it's clearly Paul Pierce. He brings more to the table IMO than Manu can. Pierce has drastically improved his defense this season, he's a very good rebounder, and a hell of a scorer. Plus despite was some people said he can play just fine with 2 starts with him. I think Manu is a terrific player, but I just don't see him as a number 1 guy for a extended amount of time. Something Pierce has proved he can be while the team can still be solid.

Hard choice, but I'm taking Ginobili: he's seriously underrated in the NBA (maybe his perception would change if he got this 2005 Finals MVP, which he lost to Duncan by mere 1 vote) and after watching his international accomplishments I have no doubt that he'd fare not worse than Pierce as a first option.
