Thx for the props, CPops.
I just wish I could change this old screen name already. It's so outdated and combative. Speaking of dating myself, I really want to change my name to Ed Lover and pop a Yo! MTV Raps avatar....... Hopefully some older heads will get that reference..... But you can only change after one full year..... (Can mods switch screen names for people earlier?)
Anyways, I just really hope we get Ron Ron. That'd be wild. It'd fill some seats, too. I don't think it's out of the question. . . What do other people think?

I think that things are too quiet, something is up. If we could get the 6 seed and play an Orlando team, I think we could match-up ok.
Orlando has a huge size advantage up front, but Miller would give us a huge advantage at the PG spot. Lewis and Hedo tend to be outside shooters, so that would negate a bot of the size advantage. If we were to play an effective small ball game, we could eb ok.
Hmmmm, things are going to be interesting b/w now and Thursday.
Where's sixerfan when you need him?

I, too, would love this deal.
Where' s the downside?
If RA opts out, PHI is still around $15M under the cap summer 2008 without giving up Miller.
If he doesn't opt out and he doesn't fit, he's a movable expiring $8.4 contract.
If he stays next year, $18.4M off the cap (RA and Miller) summer of 2009.
Worst case scenario:
He slugs KG and gets thrown out of Games 6+7 of the ECF.

The Kings appear to be in serious dump mode. They are basically giving Bibby away for cap space.
My guess is that Artest will definitely be dealt, the question is to where.

Ron Ron is a serious post-up player. I don't care if he's not a traditional 4 -- he can play the low-block. The Sixers don't have anyone who can do that.
He's an absolute beast on D, and this would make the Sixers one of the best defensive teams in the league.
Let's face it. The Sixers are in-line for a playoff berth. Might as well take a shot to get better. If it doesn't work, you add flexibility by owning his S&T rights this summer and clear cap space. It's a win-win.
if he opts out, are you sure we own his sign and trade rights? if so, Im on board

About acquiring Artest.
I think that we would EASILY be one of the top teams in the WEAK east, if we acquired Ron Artest. I love the length, versatility and the defense with the addition of Artest. But we would STILL be a MEDIOCRE team in the league. With the lack of a FRANCHISE player, which i hope we could acquire in FA. And perimeter shooting will pose a very serious problem with Andre Miller, Iggy, Thaddeus and Daly not being a good perimeter shooters.
So yes, I'm excited with the acquisition of Artest. It would be a fun team to watch and I think were taking a step forward in being a serious team in the league. But overall, I hope we don't consider it as an answer to escape this state of mediocrity were in.

There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

There's no reason the Kings make this move at all. Now that they've moved Bibby for expirings, the writing is on the wall that the team is rebuilding. Therefore, Artest will probably opt out, saving the team more money. They won't take on more contracts.
I've heard though (on ESPN) that when Artest opts out, the Sixers would be in the running this offseason for his services. I can't see them acquiring him right now.

The Kings have to ask themselves if they really want to let Artest go for free. It makes more sense if they pursue a deal, which gives them at least some sort of value. And I do think that our package is more worth than we might assume. Green might have a reasonable contract for the Kings organization at all if we consider how much they have paid for John Salmons. I do not think that Carney is considered a bust yet and the Jazz pick is a solid trade asset. Finally, I have no clue WHICH team could offer significant more. The Nuggets have already made known their interest but their alleged offer, Leiza and Najera, is not near our alleged proposal.
I would be really pumped up if we somehow could obtain Artest...Where is sixersfan1976?

I think there is a LEGIT reason for the Kings to make the trade with the sixers.
Rebuilding Factor:
Were offering assets that would satisfy a rebuilding team. IMO, Carney is still a lotto quality player mainly because of his upside and talent.
With the Kings' history of being fond of "underrated" players (Mikki moore, John Salmons, Kenny Thomas and Beno Udrih), Green is a kind of player the Kings would love to gamble to.
Were also offering a first rounder, which is always a good asset for any rebuilding or non-rebuilding team in the league.
Team Needs Factor:
I'd be honest that the Kings don't need more swingmen in the team with the emergence of Francisco Garcia, Kevin Martin, and John Salmons. But I think that Willie Green and Carney fits very well with Sac Town's offensive system which relies on slashers and outside shooters.
Thus, I think Kings would be interested with Green and Carney because they would fit with their team, especially on the offensive end.
Best Deal Factor:
The only rumor circulating so far with the Artest sweepstakes is Denver's offer of Kleiza and Najera. And I'd take Carney, Green and a 1st, anyday.

it ain't gonna happen.
i don't really care if i'm right or wrong. there are positives and negatives to the deal.
but since as far as i know, stephen a smith (who is completely unreliable) is the only one who has mentioned this. i don't believe it has any legs.
wouldn't surprise me if it happened, necessarily, because it's a move i could see stephanski making...but i doubt it has any validity.
