Curry/Bibby to Cleveland? Cle/Sac/NY trade
Thomas is making it known that Curry is available for anything that someone will offer (Dolan doesn't like him) - Sacramento is still looking to get rid of Bibby - Cleveland may be open to a 3-way involving these two teams.
The breakdown:
Cleveland gets:
Mike Bibby, Eddy Curry, Malik Rose, Randolph Morris
Cleveland sends out Eric Snow, Cedric Simmons, Damon Jones, Donyell Marshall, Drew Gooden, 2nd round pick in '09 and cash to NY
NY Gets:
Cedric Simmons, Donyell Marshall, Kenny Thomas, Damon Jones, 2nd round pick ('09) -from CLE, Cash (from Cle)
NY sends out Malik Rose, Eddy Curry, Randolph Morris
Sacramento gets:
Drew Gooden, Eric Snow
Sacramento sends out Mike Bibby and Kenny Thomas.
Why everyone does it:
Cleveland:
Cavaliers get a point guard who can distribute and help score, allowing Larry to go back to the SG. Eddie Curry takes Andy's role off the bench -Andy starts. Malik Rose will also be a bench contributor, albeit on a much smaller basis. Randolph Morris is a possible future center for the Cavs who gets absolutely no play-time in NY. Cavs take on Curry's 3 year deal for slightly more than the two year deal they were paying Drew...Curry will also provide valuable relief should another BIG go down. Sasha moves back to bench, replacing the vacated spot of Damon Jones. 2nd round pick is easy to give-up because cavs will get much deeper and talented with very little effort and can use 1st rounder on a future PG.
Sacramento:
The Kings get the PF they have been wanting, at the price they like...plus he is young, and fit's coach Theus' defensive plan for the Kings, as Drew has been playing with the defensive-minded Cavs for 3 seasons. Kings also dump Kenny Thomas for Eric Snow, who will be a valuable asset in mentoring the young point-guards in Sacramento - and Eric is a defensive wiz and team leader. In the process, the Kings dump salary.
New York:
The Eddy Curry/Randolph experiment didn't work. Dolan doesn't like Eddy, and nobody will take Zach...that means Curry has to go. In return, New York gets Donyell Marshall who is a team-player that doesn't cause trouble, costs much less and is an expiring contract next season. Cedric Simmons is a project for New York, and basically takes the place of Morris only with more potential. Damon Jones can take-over at the point and give New York a consistent shooter. In addition, Damon expires next season. Kenny Thomas is the bad part of this deal, but to get rid of Curry and Malik for more talent , less baggage, less contractual length a 2nd round draft pick and cash...this is a no-brainer for the Knicks.
All teams involved in this deal win. Cleveland adds to their luxury-tax, but only by a couple million. They also lose Gooden's contract which would have been part of 35 million in expiring contracts next season... but Curry is more talented than Drew, and can play with the stronger centers, when Z can't. Sacramento does EXACTLY what it wanted to do...get rid of Thomas, and Bibby for lower contracts that yielded a good player. New York gets more talent and unloads the baggage of Curry. In-addition they recieve two players who expire next season, giving them nearly 10 million to use for trades and possibly speed-up their rebuilding process.

Bibby/Boobie
Hughes/Pavs
LBJ/Devin
AV or Curry/Morris/Rose
Z/Curry/AV/Morris
That team is loaded. Curry is a lazy ass but wouldn't have to do much other than score in the block cause we still have AV/Z/LBJ to get boards
That's the beauty of this trade... EVERYONE wins in this deal.
Sacramento basically dumps Kenny Thomas. They take back Drew who has averaged nearly a double-double for 3 straight years, and Snow, who is like a player-coach and will bring invaluable help to the King's young guards...all for the price of Bibby.
Cleveland loses a 2nd rounder and cash, and adds to their luxury tax for this season, but that is the price they pay to get what they want: By bringing in Curry,Morris and Rose, they add 3 BIGS to the Cavs line-up and although Curry is a slight risk...it is a small risk because he will become an asset due to his contract acfter next season. There is also a chance that he blossoms with LeBron and outside a huge market (Chicago,NY). Curry is only 25 and he is 7-1', so he is possibly the replacement for Z. If Curry is a bust , then we still have Morris who is 21 and is also a 7-footer. Malik is a throw-in power-forward that will make sure that we don't miss Ira if he can't be re-signed for the vet-minimum next season. Cavs get Bibby to play pg and allows Larry to move to where he plays best. In addition to the obvious offensive reasons, our bench becomes almost as good as some teams starting squads: Curry/Ira(or Malik)/Devin/Sasha/Gibson. We still have depth after that with Shannon,Dwayne and Morris. We become a real threat with a relatively quiet trade that would bound to be under-rated. Because of Morris, Curry and Dwayne Jones...we can focus soley on a pg during the draft (or free-agency/trades) because the three centers off more than enough depth should something happen to Z.
New York does this trade for all the reasons I said in my original post, but also because they will have a total 30 million in expiring deals next year with this trade. For this season, they get to showcase Lee and Zach with Realdo and Nate...Allowing them to become more of a solid team. Jones is coming from the NBA finals and carries with him a NY attitude that will surely bring some leadership to a team that has none. Donyell's always been a team player and will lead by example and will be able to bring a new twist with Jones, as NY will gain legitimate 3-point threats. The cash they get from the Cavaliers pays for Damon's salary and the get a 2nd rounder for taking-on Thomas who although is a "stiff" will be a valuable commodity and also provides a certain amount of confidence to Lee and Zach because both will know that Thomas will never start in-front of them. As it stands right now, they have Malik,Curry,Lee,Zach,Morris fighting with one-another for the ball, which is stopping them from playing as a team. Jones is used to playing off the bench, but he will Push Nate and make him better, while Stephon will lose all influence that he previously had because his side-kick back-up boy Curry will be gone.
There is NO bad to this trade. All three teams help themselves by moving players. All three teams at the VERY least are as good as they are now, only with better contracts, while all three teams also have significant opportunity to get much better.

Not really considering the deal over the summer was Damon, Drew and Ira going to SAC for Bibby... But the deal fell apart when the Kings wanted Scola and the Cavs didn't want to take on Jackie Butler's contract...
So taking out Newble and Jones and adding in Snow and Thomas is equal to me...

Good
There is no way that the Cavs go after Williams and while there is a faction that'd want Miller I'm not one of them. I think he's a bad fit. The reason Bibby made sense is because he's a shooter. Miller is the anti-shooter and Williams is injured way too often.
