Tucker??

Post#1 » by Suns_fan_2007 » Fri Feb 15, 2008 5:51 pm

Why hasn't Tucker gotten any game time since we've traded away Marion/Banks?

Is Tucker in the doghouse somehow???

What's going on with Tucker?

Go DJ!

That's what happened.

Only so many minutes to go around & DJ is getting them.

Now we know why Marks does not play that much. (last nights Performance) He looked very nervous and clumsy out there.
I saw coach point down the bench and say "Marks your IN" Marks said who me?

Coach use Skinner instead.

Not such a shock, really, that he was a bit shocked that he was playing versus Dallas.

I mean, seriously, you gotta figure he saw that on the calendar and said to himself, "uh, yeah, right."

He has been pretty effective when he's out there, but he's more of a PF than C - facing the basket when scoring, and faster than Skinner but more foul-prone on defense. He's got a dynamite FG%, but I suspect the main reason he's not played is because he gets less respect from refs than most rookies.

Sad, really, 'cos I obviously think he should be switched for Skinner more often, when we are playing teams like Golden State.

Guys Skinner was sick with the flu. He NEEDED to suit up because the Suns wouldn't have the legal amount of players to play, and would have to forefit or something.

I don't think he brings any ONE aspect to the team, ie not a 3 point shooter, not a good rebounder, not a good defender and obviously not a big. DJ, Skinner, Diaw are in the rotation because they are specialists at one phase of the game

And we're so thin at PG that DJ gets rotation minutes.

It must KILL MD to do that.

As much as I like to jump on any anti-dantoni comments but there is one thing MD wants most and thats win. DJ is playing the right position right now. I think Alando can contribute but he lacks the assertiveness that Dj has right now.

It wasn't really anti-MD -- he just hasn't had a lot of good reasons to play rookies for the last half-decade, which is fair: most aren't ready.

For that matter, DJ probably ready either.

But that's OK. Hopefully, he'll figure out how to make a layup!

The fact is from everything I've read and seen from Tucker (not much on the latter obviously) he is the type of player who works a lot better with the ball in his hands. This is part of the reason why I thought we should just go for a solid role-player like Fazekas (not that he has done that great) instead of a player who is a good one-on-one player.

We have Nash, Hill, LB, Diaw Amare ... all those guys are gonna be before Tucker in the pecking order of "who do you want with the ball in their hands".

The fact is DJ is a better spot-up shooter and a better defender and that's exactly what we want from our wing position at the moment, not a player who wants to go iso. That's just not our game (unless LB has the ball of course and even then I would prefer we went with something else).

Tucker will have to get *much* better to warrant getting the ball. Otherwise, he'll have to prove that he's a better defender and spot-up shooter than DJ to steal his mins. Obviously that hasn't happened yet.

It won't surprise me if Suns don't pick up his team option if he hasn't made any great leap next season.

Tucker has 2 years guarenteed.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him moved before the draft if they don't think he will fit in. He did well in developmental league and according to Kerr, they get calls about him. An early second rounder in his place could save them a million dollars with the tax included.
