Maybe I'm overestimating the other deals that could be made, but I'd try to go after Ridnour from Seattle(who you guys reportedly almost traded for during the draft), Andre Miller, or even Kyle Lowry.

Heck, you guys could have gotten Jason Kidd. While both can't shoot, Kidd is a better playmaker, defender, and rebounder.

This trade works: Kidd, Allen, and Wright for the same four you sent for Bibby and Marvin Williams.

I think the difference between Kidd and Bibby plus serviceable players in Allen and Wright is worth giving up Williams who has only sporadically played up to his potential with Atlanta.

suns have atlanta's pick so it actually better if the pick is lower
Sasha Vujacic = The Phail Machine = The Ring Blocker

Trade Sasha before he ruins the Lakers next season.

Sounds like a good deal for both teams. Sac gets rid of Bibby's contract and ATL basically only gives up Shelden Williams.

i think sac could have gotten more... they got too little.. heck even cleveland could have offered better.

but cleveland's nose is stuck up in jason kidd who they have almost no chance getting bearing new jersey doesnt do something stupid

The trades just won't stop.

Kings got a bad deal. Expirings, ok sure... but Sheldon Williams? Why would they want him?

This is just as big of a salary dump by Sacramento as the Gasol deal was by Memphis. But you think Geoff Petrie will get NEARLY as much criticism for it as Chris Wallace? I doubt it

Gasol maintained his averages and his status, Kings were only getting worse and Bibby was only losing value, we were looking at millions of tax money next season, and Mike is 3/4 years older than Gasol, this is very different situation than the Gasol trade
Petrie got the best he could, I wouldn't say that about Wallace.

I like Shelden's favorability to play better with an increased, more consistent oppurtunity. Compared to the very erratic playing time he had in Atlanta, the front-court players in front of him, and coaching changes this season also effected him (and others), supposedly (according to a Hawks fan).

I've also always liked Shelden going back to his senior year at Duke. Getting picked high in a weak draft wasn't his fault. Normally he'd be a mid-late R1 pick. Not a high lottery pick in the weak 2006 draft. Also the Kings have been lacking toughness and size and youth, up front for awhile now. Only stuff at all that's been there in those areas is just a handful of games from Justin Williams over the last year (aka not nearly enough).

Lol you forgot we don't have a pick of ANY kind.

It's going to Phoenix which is reason enough to want to make the post-season

Haha...

My mistake. Clearly this makes it a much better trade for the Hawks. In recent weeks you guys have been slipping, and I didn't think you'd make it as things were.

Now 6-8 seed would be my guess (still don't think you can catch Bos/Det/Orl/Tor/Cle). Atlanta's young'uns will get their first taste of the postseason.

Bibby's value isn't really remotely near Gasol's value especially considering the positions they play, different situations completely.

^ Yeah the trades aren't really comparable. Plus the other trade made the Lakers a title contender, whereas this trade doesn't put the Hawks even remotely close to that level.

Clearly other GMs are going to be more critical when there is that much of a power swing. And besides, the Gasol trade was still more lopsided, Pau has much more value around the league than Bibby.

Maybe so, but it is still a blatant salary dump.

After all the ridiculous demands by Kings fans (mostly Smills) for Bibby last season, I'm glad they ended up getting basically the bare minimum they could get for him. They basically got expiring contracts and a player who has already been pronounced a bust.

I guess trades like Jwill, Haslem, Wright, and a pick for Bibby and Thomas were unrealistic Kings fans.

Good trade all around. Sacto got what they wanted. Hawks are in the playoff mix out East so they might as well address their biggest need with a veteran.

too bad the rockets don't have expirings to get bibby.

6th place puts you against the Magic most likely. Horford trying to guard Dwight Howard will be funny.

But the Hawks having better players at every other position probably isn't that funny.
