"PHILADELPHIA: TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE" thread
So I was watching Arizona play, and with the small print "anything can happen etc etc..." Jerryd Bayless is REALLY REALLY GOOD..
now who knows what his height is but i figured w the trade deadline coming and all these other teams making trades etc I'd start a thread that could have some life for the rest of the year and thru the draft....
THE TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE column: to qualify, it must be reasonable (like we're not going to trade Kevin Ollie and Carney to Miami for their draft pick)
and although Bayless is really good, my first entry is:
1) for the 76ers to draft Blake Griffin or Jerryd Bayless
-- its not gonna happen cause it absolutely fits a major major need for our club...
i'll compile a listing every few days or so if this post keeps going

First, we acquire Ron Artest for the proposed offer. Secondly we try to re-sign him in the offseason for a reasonable contract if the team has done with him well. Then we search for our missing player beneath the basket. I would try to obtain Elton Brand as assertive as possible, not opposing any sacrifices. I would suggest that we give up a re-signed Louis Williams, Jason Smith, our pick in 08, a future lottery-protected first-rounder and some flexibility for Elton Brand and Quinton Ross. If we cannot match the salaries (I do not know exactly the numbers), I would already trade Reggie Evans for expiring contracts to Orlando beforehand. Finally, we would re-sign Iguodala and Gordan Giricek and try to utilize our midlevel exception. I would split it up between David Harrison and Juan Dixon.
Miller/Dixon
Iguodala/Giricek
Artest/Young/Ross
Brand/Young/Hill
Dalembert/Harrison/Booth
That would be my perfect offseason.

I've been talking to JonathanG about Griffin quite a bit lately, and he said it's probably less than 50/50 he declares. His brother being a senior next year is a pretty strong pull for him to return to college, and his family's not pushing for him to get the quick money (at least not that's publicly known).

hey dbod! thats what ive been guessing about Blake too. he's not on any of the major mocks but NBA DRAFT.NET has him as the #1 pick NEXT year.
(who is Jonathan G??).
and w Taylor Griffin is a JR as you say, and its often talked about how the two brothers "missed" playin w one another since Taylor graduated from H/S .
yeah-- and his dad being a top line high school coach, I can absolutely see how he might stay an extra year or so

DEDICATED: how can we possibly acquire O'Neil?? (but I like what you're thinking....)
how about I combine what you mentioned and UNDERPRESSURE & simply make it:
1) acquire Ron Artest so that he AND MIller's contract expire at the end of 2009 season --assuming Artest doesn't opt out ($19mill)

sorry my man-- but this is not even a slight possibility. and if it was, WAYYY more than what you offered would be needed.

He's the founder of DraftExpress (I'm helping them out doing sysadmin type stuff for them).
