By virtually all of the qualified definitions provided from sources which cannot be questioned as to the English language, demonstrate that this was a dunk by definition at the very least. Proven, case closed...any further argument otherwise (after the facts have been presented so clearly) would be from non-Magic fans trying to diminish what the man did, or from the little "devil's advocates" attempting to explore the least popular route and not wishing to lose face, desperately hanging on to a losing argument. Some of you need not pursue a career in law. There is a time to admit you're wrong and get on with life. Sidenote: While there are many solid Rap fans, there have been HISTORICALLY (believe me, I had many a heated discussion with some years ago on this forum) a number who would argue that the cloudless daytime sky was a cyan, or an odd shade of green, rather than to admit that it presents as blue. They'll argue to the end that this is so...even after being shouted down by irrefutable evidence/proof by the vast majority.
Buddy, we are arguing the semantics of what a dunk is. No one is trying to take anything away from Dwight. I myself have stated multiple times I loved it. The fact that it was allowed is enough for me to admit it should not be disqualified.
You seem smart enough not to make a straw man argument.
Singling out Raptor fans is just icing on the cake.

In order to attempt a three-pointer, a player's feet must be outside the three-point line. At the time of the shot or jump, the player may not be on the line or inside the line, or the basket is considered a two-point attempt; however, the player is allowed to jump from outside the line and land inside the line, as long as the ball is released in mid-air.
No, it should not be tainted, his feet were outside the line. Dwight is a freak of nature. I don't think it should've been considered a dunk, but what was he going to do? The judges held up 10s and the crowd was going nuts, he couldn't attempt it again. Still though, it was very, very impressive.

In other words when proven wrong by your own supplied dictionary definition just make up another one out of your head.
thrust by every dictionary definition supplied is driving something with force. Doesn't matter what the force is. We thrust objects into outer space every year by force from rockets that are not touching the craft when they finally break the earth's atmosphere and thereby thrust into space. If you are too dense to realize this its no skin off my back. 78% of the people watching define what Dwight did as good dunk. If Magic, Olajuwan, Kobe, and a whole panel of judges along withthe dictionary define it as a dunk - you will always lose.
Incidentally as the ball comes down it is gaining or having a force added to it. Its called the force of gravity. So even by your own wrong definition you are wrong - just not thinking.
Jeez...
Look. If a plane is flying and the engine is off, is there thrust?

I already explained that there is no thrust once the booster rockets detach. Please expain how thrust is being applied after the booster are gone. Don't say is was thrusted (past tense), that is not the same thing.

What does this have to do with anything we are talking about? Nothing.

"Buddy", knowing your ilk, your "praise" of Howard is likely an attempt to put you in objective and impartial light in order not be dismissed as a "hater'. Nice try, "Buddy". Why else would you continue to argue against fact when it's ben slapping you around for most of this thread? The Rap fan reference to the ones such as yourself, is something that been painfully evident over the years. The Kapono reference was to illustrate that anyone could make a ridiculous arguement based on their own warped opinion.

Dwight is one of my favourite players in the NBA.
Nothing and no one has been slapping me around.
I will continue to argue when my point is not understood, or until proven wrong. I think this is a fun discussion. I don't see why people have to get such a rise out of simple discourse.

Friend, you type much, but say little.
Unless you have valid counterpoints, you are wasting my time.

I agree. If anything it was harder to do what he did, and hence more impressive.

I think it speaks volumes that the majority of people believe it was a dunk. And a large percentage don't care either way.
Pretty much; it was a dunk it wasnt a dunk? who cares, the show was great, he only needed a 40 on that to get through to the finals and he stomped all over Green in that 2nd round anyway.
I dont think there is much else that can be said between this 10 pager and the one on the general boards.

By strict definition I don't think it was a dunk. At least by the definitions I believe to be most valid (NBA).
If the NBA says I interpret the definition wrong, so be it.
What I have been arguing in reality has not been the supposed dunk itself, but the definitions brought forth on what a dunk is, and whether it meets those definitions.
Blindly following the majority is not always a good thing. Just look at the history of the world...
