OT - What TV are you guys watching lately?

Post#1 » by ReasonablySober » Sun Feb 17, 2008 10:32 pm

We usually have a movie thread over few months. How about a TV thread?

I very rarely watch TV when it's on. I like to wait and get into a show once it's out on DVD. Most of the time I'm late to the party and a few seasons are already done.

I've never seen Lost. I'm thinking about picking that up next week.

Last fall I watched Californication and loved it. Very funny, very graphic (though nothing like "tell me you love me"). I also liked Season 1 of Dexter. I'm gonna have to find season 2 soon.

A couple of weeks ago I watched the pilot episode of Psych (USA) and thought it was hilarious. Like a funny, updated guy's version of Matlock or Murder She Wrote. Sort of. From wikipedia:

Psych is an American comedy-drama television series. The show stars James Roday as Shawn Spencer, a young police consultant for the Santa Barbara, California Police Department (SBPD) whose "heightened observational skills"[1] and impressive detective instincts allow him to convince people that he is psychic. The program also stars Dul

My TV watching consists of sports and a couple of other shows that catch my interest when I'm flipping through channels. I'm much more of a music guy if there are no sports on.

I wouldn't suggest picking up Lost this week if you've never watched an episode. You will miss a ton of important stuff and likely hate it. If you're gonna get into Lost, rent the first three seasons and then catch up to 4.

Other shows:
The Office
30 Rock
Jericho
In Treatment
CSI:

Only show on television worth watching is Dexter on Showtime.

Best show of all time, IMO.

Is this what we're watching now or what we'd be watching in general if there wasn't a Writer's Strike? If it's in general, here's my list:

"Lost" - could be its finest season right now.

"24" - show has declined the past two seasons and I'm bummed the strike hit because the previews I saw for Season 7 looked terrific.

"Heroes" - Season 2 was a letdown from Season 1 but it was still pretty good for the most part.

"Entourage" - absolutely love this show.

"The Office" - see my profile pic and location.

"Californication" - I'm a big X-Files fan so I checked it out because of Duchovny but wasn't expecting much from this and was surprised at how good it was.

Those are the only shows I watch regularly.
Nothing will not break me.

I just got into the the office...watched the first three season in about a week and will search online to catch up on season four...heard it should be back on the air in mid april / early may...so i'm excited for that...

side note...Jan Levinson is hot...especially after she received those enhancements at the end of season 3.

I love watching CSI:Miami and Las Vegas. I really have gotten into those shows in the past couple months. I'm pretty sure I've seen almost every old episode of CSI so I'm happy the writers strike is over. I want to see new shows! I also like to watch The First 48, Ocean Force, Most Amazing Videos on Spike and I love watching the COPS shows. Also, the obvious sports shows like, ATH, PTI, SC and ESPNEWS.

Coming from a person who NEVER watches TV outside of certain movies, Bucks, Brewers, and Packers...

Dexter is an amazing show, I'd recomend it to anyone (only watched first season so far).

I got into the show late too and caught up by watching the first three seasons on DVD like you did. I absolutely love this show and I can't believe I didn't watch it for so long. The writing and acting are top notch. It's really a smart, hilarious and well-acted show.

And yea, Jan is smokin. Melora Hardin is 41 and she's hotter than a lot of 20 year olds.

Kenny vs Spenny
The Bill
South Park
The Office (UK)
Smallville
The Soup
The Chaser's War On Everything
Top Gear
Damages

Unfortunately Damages and The Chaser ended (for now) a few weeks back, Underbelly would've been on the list but it was banned from being screened in my state. Something about not wanting to influence a jury.

Dexter is great. Really the only mainstream show I watch consistently outside of Sports, Seinfeld re-runs, and movies. I would say the first season was easily better though. Any words on if there will be a season 3?

Season 3 is already being filmed I believe.

The headline for it is something along the lines of "New Dexter, new rituals, new killing techniques."

Apparently he starts to evolve, which sounds like it could become very interesting. :)

Unfortunately I've been watching Bucks games :(.

The only show I made a point to watch every week was Office. I also usually watch SNL if I'm home on Saturday nights. Other shows I like are Charlie Rose, some nature show that's on Sunday evenings at 8, certain cooking shows (Lydia the Italian chef is probably the best one - I wish they were all so well done), Nova.
