Kenny was PISSING me off big time. His glorification of Dwight's non-dunk...I'm all about creativity, but DUNK the dang ball. It's a DUNK contest. They were glorifying it because they said he "got up so high he just threw the ball in." It seemed more like he didn't jump far enough so he HAD to throw the ball in. I did NOT like the Superman dunk. Essentially it was the same dunk Moon did, but he wore a costume and threw it instead of dunking it. Then he takes away from Green's between-the-legs dunk off the lob from McCants by saying it's just a variation of a dunk we've seen before while he says D12's first 2 dunks we have never seen before. Really? Never? The Superman dunk was a cookie cutter dunk. Even if he had DUNKED it, the only original part of it would be the costume. What about Iguodala's off-the-backboard dunk from Iverson in 06? They were both variations of previously done dunks. Dwight's left hand time to right hand dunk was sweet. No arguments. Dwight's final dunk with the toy rim wasn't all that great either. Gerald's cupcake dunk was the BEST dunk all night, EASILY should have been a 50. His socks dunk was underrated, but he DEFINITELY should have done a different dunk, I'll give them that. The commentators need to be impartial if the contest is going to be decided on fan voting. ESPECIALLY if one guy is a superstar and one is a bench warmer. I absolutely HATED Dawkins tossing Green's shoes. I no longer respect him at all. Screw him. All that being said, Dwight deserved to win because he was the better showman. Green had better dunks, but Dwight sold his dunks much better. All this griping is mostly at the commentators and judges rather than the result. Dwight won it fair and square.
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.
