If Yao was voted the starting center...

Post#1 » by Meatcookie » Mon Feb 18, 2008 6:02 am

...then why does he only play 13 minutes and 17 seconds during the All Star game?

The only person to play less minutes than him on the West was Kobe, and that is because of his injury.

The All Star game isn't a real game obviously (no real defense, no real offensive plays).

Also... were the fans asleep? The game just seemed really quiet. Did they have the audio set up wrong to where you couldn't hear the crowd? Or did the crowd not care?

Yao apparently told Byron Scott he only wanted to play 10 minutes. So basically he pulled a Kobe, except he didn't have an injury.

Why? seems like a weird thing to do.

Probably because he knows that the Rockets need him more than the ASG does.

Remember Brad Miller got injured playing in an All Star Game a few years ago? Yao needs the rest anyway.

Yao's not really designed for the allstar gm anyway. The contsant up and down fastbreaks that end up as alley oops or drive and dishes seems like he'd just be in the way for a flying knee or a random elbow in the face down in the paint.

No need for the extra punishment, no matter if he's trying hard to stop a play or just getting out of the way

Smart move by Yao... I was hoping that he'd get very little playing time. Just to avoid any injury.

I just hope he's gotten the 3 point shot out of his system :)

You guys really care about the most unimportant things. We got a hell of a stretch run coming up. If it was up to me Yao would have been home resting this entire weekend b/c he played a lot of mins in the first half of the season having to carry the team when Mac wasn't there.

At least 1 of our guys got to rest though.

This thread is pointless and this can be discussed in the Allstar game thread.
