Series Thread: Jays sweep a four-gamer vs. the Royals

Post#1 » by Schad » Fri May 23, 2008 4:16 pm

The Jays are hitting the ball of late...but can they actually drive someone in? Despite putting 43 guys on base in the three-gamer against the Angels (an average of 1.6 an inning!), the Jays managed only 8 runs, which borders on statistical impossibility. The saga continues with a four game series at home against the struggling Royals (is there any other kind?), who are fresh off a four-game sweep at the hands of the Red Sox.

Game One, May 23 at 7:00 EST

Zack Greinke (5-1, 2.18/1.16)

vs.

Roy Halladay (4-5, 3.37/1.04)

Jays win, 7-1: W - Halladay (5-5), L - Greinke (5-2). Scutaro: 2-4, 4 RBI, Overbay: 3-3, 1 RBI, 1 BB.

Game Two, May 24 at 1:00 EST

Luke Hochevar (3-3, 4.29/1.46)

vs.

Jesse Litsch (5-1, 4.22/1.20)

Jays win, 6-0: W - Litsch (6-1), L - Hochevar (3-4). Litsch: first career CG shutout, 7 H + 1 BB, Wilkerson: 1-4, grand slam.

[b]Game Three, May 25 at 1:00 EST

Gil Meche (3-6, 5.58/1.42)

vs.

Dustin McGowan (2-4, 4.21/1.44)

Jays win, 3-1: W - McGowan (3-4), L - Meche (3-7), S - Ryan (11). Stewart: 2-4, RBI, SB.

Game Four, May 26 at 12:30 EST

Brett Tomko (2-5, 5.76/1.46)

vs.

Shaun Marcum (4-3, 2.80/0.87)

Jays win, 7-2: W - Marcum (5-3), L - Tomko (2-6).

Let's hope they take this series... losing to them last time was not good at all

I'd say we take 2 of 3 against the Royles.

I'm itching to post the picture of the broom again :)

They've lost 4 in a row so hopefully their struggles will continue against us.

I can't believe Marco Scutero bailed the Jays out and prevented them from blowing another runners on the corners, none out, situation.

Give Scutaro some credit. He's been seeing the ball well as of late, and hitting the ball. Rolen just missed a HR.

4-1 Jays! Overbay with a hit.

Maybe KC is what the Jays need to get rolling with their hitting. So far so good.

For one night only, instead of "what the ****...Scutaro", it's "what the ****! Scutaro!"

Amen to that, I think this guy has some good potential. I have been really happy with his play of late.

I can't believe Wilkerson hit a 2-out grand slam. That's not very Jays-like.

I second that. Greg has been up there for 2 days in a row while Barajas has been on a very good streak. That is potentially a way to halt his momentum.

However, this pitcher seems to handle the righties better so I don't completely fault Gibbons for Greg's insertion but I'd still rather see Rod.
