I'm still looking over some of the players. At this point, I hope we add one big and some true shooters!

At this point, I think Rod Benson (big) and Jeremy Richardson (shooter) fit that bill the best. They're in shape because they've been balling for serious minutes in the D-League. I'm just talking 10 day contracts to see if how they fit. I believe you can sign guys for 2 10 day contracts before having to decide on them for the rest of the year.

I can't guarantee these guys will stick, but I think the method is sound. The arguably best franchise in the league uses this technique. San Antonio has been trying out several guys on 10 day deals this year looking for a bargain steal until they decided to sign Mighty Mouse as a vet backup when he got bought out.

Agreed.

After the deadline passes, there may be a few veterans waived that could help the Hawks.

I'm keeping my eye on that, but haven't spotted any likely purges yet.

As much as I'd like to see Rod Benson get a shot, I just read some more about Elton Brown. Elton Brown (6'9 270 lbs) has been a D-League all-star the last 2 years and was the last cut from Lakers camp. He played college ball at Virginia. Worth a look.

Benson is taller, but Brown has a bulk that we lack on our bench. It would be nice to have one or both of them on the bench when we face a run of teams with bigs in the middle of March.

As reported in the another thread Jeremy Richardson is the first one in the truck. He's a wing with decent shooting range. I think he's a good add for the whole season, but if nothing else he's a needed fill-in while Childress is on the mend.

As for the big, I still see someone from the D-League or a release from another team because a bigger name that's sitting in dry dock probably is nowhere near in shape.
