Trade idea for Backup PG, C and a SG

Post#1 » by Basketballmania » Mon Feb 18, 2008 9:07 am

Trade ID #4516846

Mavs outgoing
Terry, Juwan

Mavs incoming
Watson
Wilkins
Petro

Sonics outgoing
Watson
Wilkins
Petro

Sonics Incoming
Terry
Juwan

would bring terry to his hometown and gives us a perfect backup at PG which is exactly what we need with kidd at the bench
we also get a good shooting guard with good skills and a young backup center similar to diop

Kidd / Watson / Barea
Jones / Wilkins or Wlkins / Jones
Howard / Stackhouse / George
Dirk / Bass / Fazekas
Dampier / Petro / Allen

what do you think?
i like it since seattle wants to get rid of petro wilkins, wally and gelabale

petro's like 21 years old they arent just going to give up on him, if they want to get rid of wally or watson (or ridnour) i can understand that and i guess wally wouldnt be that bad as a 4th or 5th option

yeah but wally is way too expensive imo i would prefer wilkins

here is the part from the article in where i read that they want to get rid of those:

The Spurs don't make many major moves, but they are looking to deal Francisco Elson.

The SuperSonics have had enough of their French connection and are offering Johan Petro and Mickael Gelabale. Seattle also would like to move Wally Szczerbiak and Damien Wilkins.

maybe Elson is a possibility as well but it won't happen.

Elson would be a nice backup center and one that may work well with Kidd.

Maybe Kurt Thomas will be waived. IDK, but right now, this current mavs team (with Kidd and without Harris & Diop) is in serious trouble. Other trades or players picked up off waivers need to happen.

Dallas trades:
Devin Harris, Keith Van Horn (waive either Nick Fazekas or Juwan Howard), Threnton Hassell, Diop. Maurice Ager, 2 future firsts and 1 future second.

Dallas receives:
Jason Kidd, Malik Allen, Antoine Wright.

THEN

Dallas trades:
TE and a second.

Dallas receives:
Kurt Thomas

THEN

sign D. Jones or Rayshawn Terry

C - Damp / KT / Faz
PF - Dirk / Bass / Allen
SF - JoHo / Wright / DG
SG - Stack / EJ / DJ
PG - Kidd / JET / JJB

i'd love to have watson, but i'd like to keep Terry and see if he'll pick back up by playing with Kidd. I'd rather they try to find a center on the cheap but boy, looking at the trade checker, theres not that much left to trade.

i think with kidd on the mavs there is no room for terry.
just playing behind kidd wouldn't give him enough minutes and he is too small to be a SG next to kidd.
we need someone bigger at the 2 and a pg who doesn't have to get many minutes like watson. i think he's fine with 15-20 minutes and he can pass the ball very well
with wilkins we get a versatile shooting guard who has no problem coming off the bench if avery wants him to do so.
petro is a great young guy with similar style compared to diop.
he is very young and has some time to grow.

look at this :o

none of our centers can do that

If they want defense at SG, then play Jones instead of Terry...
If we could just close games with Luka, Kyrie, Green, Maxi, and Wood that'd be great...

Actually having Kidd will help Terry on defense. Kidd can cover (and is probably better now) SG's and JET can defend most PG's. Where Dallas will run into trouble is covering quick penetrators at PG who draw fouls.

Unfortunately, that is what the West is stacked with at present.
10:20 (pm, 6/29/06) The Mavs take Maurice Ager at No. 28... Ager walks up to the stage in a triple-breasted, oversized beige suit, goes to shake hands with Stern and immediately gets whistled for a foul on Dwyane Wade.

Elson would be a nice pickup at center, I dont see Seattle having too high of a price tag on a guy like him either.

Would ya wanna make a trade with San Antonio though? I would do that as a last resort.

I'd love to have Petro in Dallas but would Avery play him?

Nuke, It's not if Avery plays him - it's if he's available to be played. Right now as the trade goes through, we have no one available to be played. That is what is alarming.

What about Mel Ely from NO. He is not going to set the world on fire, but we do have some history of picking up big men from Byron Scott and making something useful of them...

I don't know much about him but New Orleans wouldn't deal him to us if he could help.

I like it. Although George, Jones and Stack would really need to step up if Jet leaves.
