Sign me up for that one. if we can dangle kapono instead of delfino, i m all up for it. Kapono + Dixon + 08 first pick for Artest.. ONLY if Artest is not opting out next year

Finally! I'm glad to see this, Kapono's a great shooter but he needs a good coach around him to thrive. Someone who can draw up plays and sequences which might get him open. With Sam around, it's up to Kapono to get himself open because there's zero effort being made on the part of our coaching staff (not the brightest when it comes to X's and O's) to help him fit in.
He had success early but once the scouting reports got out it was all over.
On a completely different note. Aren't we a "Euro" type team? And don't European teams play principle sound basketball like backdoor cuts, hi-lo feeds, you know, Princeton type basketball. What happened to the idea of using the intelligence of our European/South American players to run some neat plays which are easy on the eyes and like some of the stuff you see at the international competitions? It's almost like Sam is completely the WRONG coach given the team's composition.

You are correct in your assessment of the coaching staff, IMO.
I like Sam. He's a hoot. But he's a bit of an Xs-and-Os dumbass.

Exactly. Every time Delfino steps on the court and touches the ball I cringe, he either dashes it up or hits the lane for some unorthodox shot just like in the Spurs game. Kapono on the other hand can be really effective when given opportunities like those little curl screens from Bosh or Rasho he can make that shot in his sleep. I say BC packages Delfino+Dixon+Hump and a Future 1st for Ron Artest and Francisco Garcia which works in the trade checker.

I don't believe we are shopping him around. I think he benefits greatly with playing with TJ as opposed to Jose and since TJ has been out he has been overlooked and when he is not scoring he is not worth playing. However, I think he will play a bigger role on the team in the future.

props to Turbozone for the sig

We don't have the players to run any sort of complex European system. I mean think about it AP tries to run of curls and he does it quite well but after him our wings are all one-dimensional. Sam is coaching what he has. We need to find ourselves a two-way wing player and pray Bargs gets better. We are not going to run lays to beat people, we play smart half-court basketball. Our offense is really not the problem, we need more slashing but our offense is quite good. It's the other end of the ball that needs help, defense and rebounding. Once those are fixed you'll see us getting 10 more points off fastbreaks and more offensive boards

As for shopping Kapono, I honestly want to keep him. Let's see him play with TJ and play in the playoffs. The guy could really be useful. A shooter like that needs some time and effort to fit in. That said I want Artest, quite simply bottom line. I want him on this team. We can package Delf, Dixon, Hump and 1st for him and someone else but we need to get him. If it doesn't work out he walks at the end of the year. And we don't lose much. But if it does work out and Artest is starting to realize he needs stability we've gained something special. The guy would look really good next to AP and Bosh. Moon and Kapono can come off the bench with TJ. TJ would wreck havoc on defenses. It also means we can give Bargs more mins backing up Bosh and Rasho more minutes at center with either player.

Agreed with coaching analysis. Not so much the Euro thing, might be a stretch.

the only problem is, you need players to get kapono his open 3's.
in miami he had shaq and wade. to a lesser extent here he's had ford and calderon.
when he's not open, he's pretty useless on the court.
