Dallas + Kidd - Diop - Harris = Fail

Post#1 » by Ozek » Mon Feb 18, 2008 7:57 pm

Kidd can't shoot to save his life. Diop is a huge loss. End of game Kidd will be on the court instead of Stackhouse, meaning the opposing coach with 1/2 a brain will use Kidd's man to double Dirk.

Dampier will foul out against Shaq, leaving Dirk to guard both Shaq and Amare and stay out of foul trouble? Not likely. Dirk forced to guard Duncan cause Dampier fouled out? Not fun. Guard Bynum + Gasol? No.

This trade will not make the Mavs better, in my opinion. Kidd is shooting 36.7% from the floor this year. How much of that is easy layups? Do you expect your 16 playoff wins to come from Kidd hitting open shots because Dirk is doubled 100% of the time? I don't.

We didnt trade for Kidd for his shooting. Avery is the best coach since Byron Scott that J-Kidd will have played for anyways so who knows how much better he can get as the season progresses.

It could mean failure, but lets give it a go. We can only cheer for the mavericks on the roster.

Kidd doesn't have to be a scorer in Dallas. Terry really struggled taking a backseat to Harris because they were both scoring pg's and needed the ball, but now he will return to form. That can easily make up for Kidd's poor shooting.

That's going to be hard to do knowing we had a team that could have gone all the way.

See, we're assuming that Shaq is GOING TO FIT IN with Phoenix. Uhhh, I don't know about you but I think Shaq will have difficulty fitting in with Phoenix...this late into the season as well.

And remember, why is Kidd shooting in the first place? Kidd will get his points, but it'll be scrappy.
My name is Taiyab, and I realize there is an intra-team conflict at the Point Guard spot.

Some of the fans seem as mentally weak as the team, don't they? What sucks is that we're going to be dealing with this issue forever, and it's never going to amount to anything more than the following exchange:

Anti-Kidd: "See, Harris and Diop would've done better than Kidd!"
Pro-Kidd response: "Not necessarily."

Once the trade is done, you can't look back at the what-ifs. What's done is done. You accept it and move on. You can learn from the mistakes, but you still have to move on.

^^^

You can psyche yourself into theat "not necessarily" talk if you want. That line of thinking and giving in is for mentally weak followers.

The unfortunate thing is that the only vote any of us have is with our feet and money. Since I dont really spend any money with the mavs, I can only vote with my feet. And since I cheer for the Laundry, I am in the lemming line. I have been and always will be a fan. I may not like all of the moves, but I will stay with them. I made it thru the first year, the 9-73 year, the WC finals in teh 80's, the Finals two years ago, and every other of the 27 seasons. I will be around for the remainder of my life or their life, whichever is shorter, and I will be cheering for them.

if Avery is not willing to play Diop then how big of a loss can it be?

he played in 52 games averaged 17mpg, 3ppr, 5rpg, and 1 bpg
not exactly world-beater stats

with added minutes who is to say Bass can't pick up his averages from
20mpg, 8ppg, 4.5rpg and 0.7bpg?

and what does Malik Allen bring to the table?
we don't know yet...

How many minutes did he avg against Shaq, Duncan, Camby & Yao?

Shaq did not play us this year and he was above 21 MPG in all the others.

All of those are potential playoff matchups.

Maybe, but they are 17-3 over the last 20 games and are currently in 8th place.

Harris+Diop= lose in first round as a 1 seed+ Lose in finals after being up 2-0. Diop and Harris are replaceable a Jason Kidd does not come around all that often.

NETS FAN here,

Its amazing, Kidd averages close to 10 pts , 10 rebounds , 10 assists per game and you guys are still complaining....?

Kidd will make the shot when it count the most book it. Be it a layup , put back, 3 point you name it.

Why don't you watch last years 3 over time classic with Steve Nash...
SIC Wrote "If VC takes over and leads the Nets to the second round, I will man up and say I was WRONG." ---I would like to apologize for saying that with VC we can't advance to the second round. So to all the VC supporters you guys were right.
