Is there a virus on realgm?

Post#1 » by d-train » Sun Feb 17, 2008 7:27 pm

When I'm browsing realgm, my antivirus program detects the HEUR/Exploit.html virus. It has happened several times and only when I'm browsing the realgm website.

Get AdBlock Plus, because it's probably something coming from the ads.

At work I had a trojan show up while I was on RealGM. I can't pinpoint that it was RealGM though, as my job involves opening web pages and emails from all sorts of scammers and weirdos. It just weirded me out that a bunch of weird ads started popping up right when I clicked a RealGM ad on accident.

That kind of makes sense because recently I changed my firewall to stop blocking ads. I thought it might make browsing faster if loading pages weren't hung-up by my firewall blocking ads. I guess maybe there are good reasons to block ads other than the annoyance factor.

Actually, blocking ads makes things go FASTER.

Are you sure? Doesn't that depend of whether the blocked ads timeout before the webpages would otherwise load them?

Yes. The ads here slow things down a bit. Adblock doesn't hide the ads, it prevents them from ever loading up on your screen.
