Would you trade Sean May for Patrick O'Bryant (Warriors)?

There was an interesting interview from Andris Biedrins just recently, in Latvian. Some Latvian warriors fans translated it for us. In it Andris says that POB is deep in Nellie's doghouse and Andris doesn't know why. and Andris came out and said that Kosta isn't getting playing time because he's too slow, and Marco because he doesn't play defense, so it's not like Andris wasn't telling it like it was. There are a few POB boosters on the Warriors board who believe he is getting the serious shaft.
My take on the tiny handful of minutes he has gotten is this: he is not good right now but he shows some promise and has amazing shot altering ability even against nba competition. He also has a jump hook that has nice form. Supposedly he has a jumper, though it mostly hasn't looked good when I've seen it.
I can think of *no reason* why the Cats shouldn't pick him up in the offseason with part of your cap space if you have it, or part of your MLE otherwise. 9'5" standing reaches do not come along everyday, especially in someone who is reasonably athletic like Patrick.

The problem is floppymoose is how many project bigs do you make room for on your roster?
We already have Twiggy and Davidson. Adding POB would just take up another valuable roster spot and present 3 bigs who all need experience that they'll only really get through PT - PT that might not be enough for all three.
Know what I mean? If we did sign POB I would hope that we would trade Twiggy for what ever we could get - so long as the general thought is that POB is better and can be better than Twiggy.

Pattycake's upside is Brad Daugherty (because any potential Bobcat must be compared to a Tarheel to have any relevance), Chris Kaman or as bad as Olowakandi. Kandi man is a waste of a #1 pick, but an ok player for a couple of years.
25 D-league games last year and he put up a near double double (12 points 9.6 rebs or something). What has Hollins ever done to deserve a spot on the court instead of the track? Fast-okay, we're a slow team. Jumps high? Okay, well Pattycakes has a high vert too (30 inch for a 7 footer with a 7-6 wingspan and a 9-5 standing reach)

Because of their potential to improve relative to their ages.
I mean, sure, maybe Hollins and Davidson "want it" more than Darko/O'Bryant...or maybe that's kindof a learned trait related to confidence?
Just be glad I didn't start posting until AFTER we selected Ammo, because I would've been the guy on the board saying that he and O'Bryant are the same risk/reward just at different positions.

I agreed with that concept when it came to Ammo 100%. I really enjoyed him at Zag - but I was never comfortable taking him #3, especially considering what else was on offer. Like taking B.Wright #8. I would have hated taking him top 3, but was more than ok taking him #8 (and then thrilled with the eventual outcome!!).
Based what I saw from the Tourney, I would have been on taking POB 10 too - but having potential and reaching potential are two very different things.
There is no reason to think that especially Davidson and maybe even Twiggy wont have the same sort of career as POB.

Well there is, because they're different type of players. Davidson is one of those rangy PFs who can rebound and based on d-league stats seems to be able to make an impact on defense. In 31 mins he averaged 8.8 boards and 17 points. I like Jermareo, I'd definitely give him a shot until he's ineligible for more d-league time.
Anyway, seems like we sort of agree, besides the difference that I'd take nanoseconds to cut Hollins to sign O'Bryant and you'd have to think about it.

I don't know the answer because I haven't seen enough of your other projects to judge. But I do know that someone is going to take a chance with Patrick, and have a shot of benefiting from GS's mistake. If it's not the Cats it will be some other team.

Yuppers. DJ's had a bad few games. He's due. Got to stop forcing his own shot and start helping his team mates more like he did the 1st two months of the season.
Jordan just needs to do something! Anything!! At the moment Thabeet is looking a better prospect than him!

Well, POB is an expiring. In case of trade I would want him just to get rid of May's longer contract (I would take almost whoever cheap with ok attitude to do this). This way POB wiould make a roster spot for himself for the rest of this season. After this season we would have 7 men under contract:
PG - Felton
SG - Richardson, Carroll
SF - Wallace, Morrison, Dudley
PF - none*
C - Mohammed
+
*Davidson is a team option
1st pick
2nd pick
with expired Boykins, McInnis, Anderson, Harrington (TO),
Okafor (RFA), O
