Deadline is Thursday, and Pritchard is Pushing

The Blazers could probably leave well enough alone. The team is playing ahead of expectations, and it has a great young core. Next season, with a healthy Greg Oden, the Blazers could be a real threat in the West. But GM Kevin Pritchard has one of the itchiest fingers in the West as well as looming roster issues, and I'm told he's been among the most active GMs on the phones, trying to make something happen.

His goal is to take a number of smaller assets and turn them into core players at point guard and small forward. He made a determined effort to nab Devin Harris from Dallas and also has been in hot pursuit of the Pacers' Danny Granger. He may land neither, but he is ready to give up players like Travis Outlaw, Sergio Rodriguez, Jarrett Jack and Martell Webster if the right opportunity comes up.

Hopefully Pritchard pulls something out of his hat. I'm happy with the progress this team has made, but there are obvious weaknesses and roster spot issues looming, so hopefully KP wows us all again.. Harris or Granger would definitely wow me

Latest rumor from Olive is that Iny and POR are talking and Granger is involved. Some "decent" Olive source confirmation but talks is all and everything with a big fat grain of salt.

Im also a big fan of Granger, if we could somehow get him for Webster, Jack and sweetner I would be in heaven. But then more then likely the Pacers would want Outlaw in a deal and I dont blame them.

If the Blazers are willing to take on some bad contracts and the Pacers want to dump some salary/rebuild, this might have some legs...

Webster
Jack
Frye
LaFrentz

for

Daniels
Murphy
Granger

Lineup after the trade...

Blake/Sergio/Green
Roy/Daniels
Granger/Jones
Aldridge/Outlaw/McRoberts
Przybilla/Murphy

Where is TB at? I need to know if I'm going to have to dust off my shorts holding apparatus from last summer.

I'm gonna post Chad Ford's comments on the Trade Board and see what happens...

I think the Heat would hate that trade. They won't be adding a big contract like Dunleavy right now. Plus, he just isn't a smart fit from a position standpoint. They'll likely look to keep Marion when it comes time, and if Dunleavy was there as well, that would give them 2 really high priced SF's.

I think Miami might be able to pull off Marion at PF if they start running.

PG- Derrick Rose
SG- Dwayne Wade
SF- Mike Dunleavy Jr.
PF- Shaun Marion
C- Udonis Haslem

That lineup might work in the East if they play a sort of Phoenix styled ball. It would be hella fun to watch.

I remember reading somewhere that they were in pursuit of Mike Miller, so I thought of the next best player, Dunleavy.

Marion played PF for quite a while in Phoenix, and did well in that role. I think a three man lineup of Wade, Dun, and Marion would be hell for a defense to plan against.

Anyway, do you think Indiana would agree to such an idea?

blazers getting granger?

Post#12 » by roy7 » Tue Feb 19, 2008 1:55 am

i was on the oregonlive forum and some person said this

"I'm a friend of KP's son Jason, and he was texting me earlier telling me how he was going through his dad's three blackberry/treos.
Jay told me KP and Larry Bird are working out salary issues.

I guess the deal will be finalized on Wednesday.

Martel, Frye, Jack + 2 '08 picks"

is this kid telling the truth,is he really friends with kps son, he said that he gurentees we get him,if he is right i love it. we keep outlaw and get granger

That team would get absolutely abused on the inside. Neither Marion or Haslem are over 6-9. You could use that lineup on some nights, but over an 82 game schedule???

If they have a deal in place to move Haslem for a C, then they can get away with playing Marion at PF like the Suns did.

Anyway, do you think Indiana would agree to such an idea?

If what has been said on the Trade Board is any indication... No. The overwhelming perception is that the Pacers have no intentions of trading Granger.

well, besides o'neal they only have granger to build around.

so they will want expireing contracts and young players with a lot of upside and i think the blazers have that to offer.

That would be a fricking steal for Portland. It would have to be someone like Marquis Daniels along with Granger to make the salaries work out.

OLive is fun an all, but I'm not really about to get excited over a rumor started on that forum. I gotta hear something from sources I trust.

Aslong as Roy, LMA & Oden arent moved
I would do anything to get Granger. If it
means killing the '09 plan & taking a bad
contract, I say go for it Pritchard!!!!!!!!
Ive been a Granger fan before he was NBA.

Murphy
Granger
Rush
for
Outlaw
Webster
Frye
Jack

Yea I like rumors that arent just fantasys
and could have truth to it even tho this
one about KP's sons friend is probably
not real. I would think Bird would want
Outlaw in the deal. Webster would prob
do really good on the Pacers aswell as
Jack but I still would think Bird would
want Outlaw. Personally I think Outlaw
given the same mins as Granger would
put up the same stats & do very good
as a Pacer.. .I could see the Pacers
doing this deal. They get a bunch
of young players that can help win
the Pacers fans back even tho im
sure the Pacer fans love Granger.
But this would allow Pacers more
options down the line.. .

FWIW, Ike Diogu is also supposedly being talked about with the rumor.

BlazerBrass is the one who apparently started talking about it on the OLive Forums and other posters have said that he's be on about previous moves that the Blazers have made, so take that for what you will.

I still need to hear it from a source I trust before I consider this anything other than OLive forum fluff.
