Rondo a consistent triple double threat?

I see signs of Rondo being able to do this, his rebounding is fantastic, watch for this next year, of course, I'd be happy with 5 reb/game....what do you think?

He has a chance to reach that ceiling, but I can't see him doing that this year. Once Garnett comes back Doc will probably give him less touches again reducing his points and assists and KG will be getting his fair share of rebounds again as well leaving less for Rondo.

I can see Rondo being a consistent double-double threat only. Without a consistent jumper, I just don't see him scoring in double figures as much. Also with Perk and KG around, I doubt he can even grab that many boards consistently. He does has the potential of getting a quadruple-double; 10 points, 10 assists, 10 rebounds and 10 steals.

He already averages over 10 points a game as it is. You're basically saying you think he can put up a lot of 10 REB, 10 AST, but fewer than 10 point games? C'mon.

Only 20 players in the last 20 years have more than 10 career triple-doubles, but I could see Rondo putting up a lot of 13/7/8 lines and the like so I guess he's a threat in that regard. If you were to rank the players most likely to drop a triple double I think Rondo would probably be in the Top 10 right now. KG, Kidd, LeBron, Odom, Pierce, Iguodala, Odom, Bryant and then maybe Rondo in there somewhere. Forwards with passing ability have the best shot at it unless you're some kind of freak like Kidd.

consistent triple double threat? probably not even close. i dont think he has any right now. hes also going to have to dominate the ball if he wants rebounds and assists and i dont see him dominating the ball for the next 3 or so years (with the big there in place.)

Don't get me wrong - Rhondo is improving by leaps and bounds.

To say he will ever record a quad double. No way. Of the four players to ever suceed in registering a quad-double, three are in the NBA's 50 geatest of all time - Thurman, Robinson and Olajawon.

I don't think his scoring makes him a triple-double threat either. He will sneak a few in over his career. but I don't think he will consistently score if he is racking up the assists, scoring should be a second option and I think they are exclusive of one another with Rhonda. Plus pulling down 10 boards while KG, Perk etc are out there. He just won't have the opportunity as the big men will already have the ball in his hands for him to push up the floor. Will he help the celtics win - yes.

Shouldn't a player be required to register at least one triple-double before being listed as one of the top ten threats in the league to record one? Rondo is very likely to go the entire year without one.

I think he will need to be on a faster paced squad with fewer iso players to pull it off.

Well, only 14 guys have recorded triple-doubles this year and only 4 more than once. So, no, I don't think it's necessary.

Just because Earl Watson has one doesn't mean he's necessarily more likely to get another one before Rondo.
