Bobby Jones is a defensive stopper in the truest sense. He has great size and quickness and moves his feet intelligently, always staying in front of his man and taking great pride in harassing whoever he is guarding. He is a versatile defender as well; being used in college to defend any position on the court 1-5. Jones does a good job with post defense and he can defend shorter players on the perimeter as well. He is exceptional at sliding his feet from side to side, knowing when to extend or advance his on the ball defensive position and having the instincts to retreat backwards while staying in his defensive stance and keeping his technique.

I bet the SUNS sign Bobby Jones. He meets exactly what the SUNS are looking for.

I love Jones generally, been a supporter since the draft, and is a mature, tough young player. Brings everything you guys need, want.
But, Jones, being a 2nd year player with limited NBA experience - can he be reliable on a regular basis, and in the playoffs? Assuming he wouldn't just basically be a deeper bench guy and injury-case player. Where the SG/SF situation is still Hill/Bell/Barbosa and varying/limited minutes from the others (Strawberry/Jones/Piatkowski/maybe Tucker). Maybe Jones could step up with consistency (including the playoffs), but that'd still be questionable, and the experience factor wouldn't favor to it.

Re: Prediction: Bobby Jones
Just because that was his scouting report 2 years ago doesn't mean that is the player he is. I remember scouting him before the '06 draft and liking the looks of him. Problem is he has been cut 2 or 3 times already. Now maybe those teams are missing something. The Suns will do their due dilligence and find out.Mr. Sun wrote:I bet the SUNS sign Bobby Jones. Personally I think it will be Dante Jones. He will be just as cheap and has more experience.

I liked him in college too, but at the NBA level though, I'd say he's only a fair defender. Keep in mind he was already NBA sized in college, so that helped him quite a bit. In the games he's played, he looked a little clumsy on the court. He can definitely rebound though. Wouldn't be a bad guy to add for a minimum.

Being cut 3 times in your first 2 years is not something you would put on a resume. Skinner has been in the L for almost 10 years. Sure he has moved around but he has shown that he is a legitimate NBA player.Mr. Sun wrote:-= original quote snipped =-

I'm not saying that Jones shouldn't get an opportunity or that all of the guys he is working out with today are better. I'm just saying that you can't read a 3 y/o scouting report and think that is spot on.
Anybody heard anything about the workouts?
