Is Chris Paul a Top 10 player right now?
Many consider him to be the leading MVP candidate, and he has clearly shown that he's more than an all-star. But does he break the top 10?

I fully agree. In no particular order:
- Kobe
- Duncan
- Garnett
- Nash
- Nowitzki
- Yao
- LeBron
- PAUL
Yep, I can't see any other sure-thing candidates that could push CP3 out of Top-10, only some borderline, disputable candidates like Iverson or Wade (I'm not saying that Paul is certainly superior to D-Will, but is even more important for his team, while Hornets - despite being less stacked - have better record than Jazz).

The better question will be, is he currently a top 10 player and will he maintain his status as a top 10 in the coming years?
Considering how young he is, is there any reason to suggest otherwise? It is Duncan or Garnett that should worry about leaving Top-10 in next couple of years.

Based solely on this season, you'd certainly have to say that he is. I'd definitely rate him below LeBron, Kobe, KG, Duncan, Nash, Dirk and Wade, and I'm not sure about guys like Yao and Melo. I think I'd have to put him in the bottom of the top 10, just because he does so much for his team. Really the only players in the league who have to do as much for their teams and can do it as well as he does are LeBron, Wade and maybe Nash (his supporting cast is better, though). Even Kobe's got a lot of help these days.

he's the 2nd best player this year next Lebron..
but THIS SEASON doesn't mean much in terms of overall rankings..Mike Miller is better than Arenas and Brand this year, it doesn't mean he's better than them in general(obviously)..
I would still put him in my top 10 though, definitely..but I would like to see what he does in the playoffs before I rank him ahead of a guy like Steve Nash..
I would have(in no order) Duncan, Garnett, Kobe, LBJ, Nash, Dwight, Yao, Paul, Dirk and Wade in my top 10 overall players in the NBA..

Hilarious, but Paul is top 10 no doubt. He's not better than Bryant though.

I know what you wrote and THIS season he clearly isn't better than Kobe individually.
I guess offensively you could make a weak case for Paul being better, but when you add defensive impact...it becomes clear Kobe's having a better overall individual season.
oh wait, I forgot...you disagree because Kobe's a rapist.

you said it, not me..
Kobe being clearly better than Paul is false..it's close either way..Paul has a significantly higher PER, which even underrates players at his position..21 points and 11 assists with 2 and a half steals on the #1 team in the West is in the argument against ANY player in the NBA..his win shares are higher, his ratings are higher while also having lower usage..
he's also a solid defender, so that argument isn't a big factor IMO..definitely not enough to put Kobe CLEARLY ahead like you said..
there is definitely a strong argument..and then you have to mention the leadership aspect of basketball..Kobe fans usually ignore leadership, because they've never seen any from Kobe..
I found it funny that you said "hilarious" and put laughing signs about Paul being better this year..Kobe and his fans are so insecure, it's really cute..

It really isn't close, and it is clear that Kobe has been much better this year.
Put Kobe on the Hornets with B-Jax instead of Paul, and Paul on the Lakers pre Gasol and you will find the Hornets are a legit conteder with West, Peja, and Chandler around him.
Put Paul on the Lakers and you have a group of talented young guys who probably aren't on their way to the playoffs.
There is a reason that most people think that the Hornets are destined for a first round playoff exit, but that opinion would be different if Paul was traded for Kobe.
