Hedo Turkoglu vs. Andrei Kirileinko

Post#1 » by Cigamodnalro » Tue Feb 19, 2008 5:40 am

Who would you rather have this season and in the future?

Hedo is having a career year, but he still isn't the defender or 5x5 player than AK47 is. Hedo is one of two starting SFs on the Magic, while AK is forced to play out of position on the Jazz.

Would you swap Hedo for AK? AK for Hedo?

I sort of feel like this should be two polls - one poll being Hedo vs. the SF version of Kirilenko, and the other poll being Hedo vs. the PF version of Kirilenko.

In both scenarios, I'd take Kirilenko, but in the 1st, I'd have to give serious thought into taking Hedo.

Both are overpaid, but Kirilenko is more so. That makes a difference.

If salary doesn't matter (and fortunately for the Jazz right now, it doesn't seem to), I'd prefer the more versatile Kirilenko. Worse scorer, but better playmaker and better defender. He can also play inside a little (a top 10 shotblocker last year!), which is a huge advantage. Turkoglu has also had half a season at his current level, while Kirilenko has had several.

How on earth is Turk overpaid? He is averaging 19,5,4 and playing for the mid-level. He is one of the most productive players considering their contract. Turk is radically underpaid.

Pay no attention to me, I think everyone's overpaid ;)

You're right, though, he's been great for the money this year. I recant my first statement. That said, it doesn't change my opinion that the ONLY reason I'd ever consider Turkoglu is that he's paid less.

Salary wise Hedo.
For what they bring to the team disregarding salry- AK easy.
Considering both tough but AK.

As far as the out of position statement: Why does everyone still say AK is a PF? He played that for one season when the Jazz were decimated and had no choice but to play him there! Sure it was his best season ever but he was also the only quality player the Jazz had that year. AK has always been a SF who in a pinch plays point forward and PF. (Example: Just because Magic Johnson started a game at center when the Lakers needed him to did not make him a center playing out of position for the rest of his career!) That being said he creates great match up problems at PF and is a lot of fun to watch at that position.

AK at PF is a stud and one of the 15 best players in the league. At at SF moves him to top 40.

AK at PF, Hedo at SF.

Turkoglu
He's much superior on the offensive end. I would rather have a great offensive player than a great defensive player.
