I read that Denver is trying to get Lowry for Von Wafer and a draft pick.

Apparently Delonte West is on the Nuggets radar. I would like to see the Sixers try and get him but then again, I think that about most names being thrown around.

I love the idea of Delonte coming back to Philly. But if we're looking at a deal with Seattle, what about Chris Wilcox. He or even Nick Collison would be a nice fit here. What would it take to get either of those guys w/ Delonte perhaps?

I like Delonte West but I like Roger Mason Jr's value more. If I were the Nuggets I would get both of them to play with AI because they both can handle PG responsibilities, guard SG's, and hit shots from long range. That's the type of guard that needs to play alongside AI but the Sixers and Nuggets have had a hard time acquiring one. Now it seems like the Nuggets are focusing on just that.

Nope. If we're making the playoffs, I'd rather trade Miller in the offseason. Or, if we get someone like Brand, keep the guy.

No.

SendEm wrote:Where is Andre Miller better? His EFF # is 17.66, Kidd's number is 20.69, Billups number is 20.08... :noway:

That stat is for 5th graders. I'm not acknowledging you using it anymore.

Miller's PER is about 2 full points higher. Despite Kidd having two borderline all stars on his team (Two people better than anyone on the Sixers' roster) the Nets offense has been worse than the Sixers this year. If he's better, and has better talent around him, then why isn't his team's offense better?

SendEm wrote: Miller isn't better in win percentage.

You're right, they have the same exact record with Vince Carter and Richard Jefferson on one person's wing and Willie Green and Andre "fouth banana" Iguodala on the other's wing. You convinced me

To be honest, it's pretty close, but I'll take Miller at this point. And when you take into consideration that he's younger and makes half as much, he absolutely should have more trade value (which is what this was originally about)

It sounds like this Kidd trade is going to happen since KVG has agreed to show up in The Jerz for 10 weeks and collect $4MIL. The deal is supposed to be announced tomorrow (Tuesday).

Now... who's next??

Wouldn't that be pro-rated 4MIL?

I say Artest will be next.

Sixerscan, Miller is indeed younger than Kidd but what does age matter when Kidd is twice as fast as Miller? Neither player needs speed to be effective because of their ball skills so what is stopping Kidd from having a career 6 years from now similar to what Miller is CURRENTLY having being that Kidd is currently a far superior athlete? If anything Millers success this season has shown that true PG's slow of foot can still be effective in the NBA. You have just shown once again your low basketball acumen. Stop while you're ahead, please.

Honestly I believe that Mark Cuban had seen slow Andre Miller dominate his team and realized that Jason Kidd would be able to be just as effective several years from now when he slows to the speed of Andre Miller. It's no coincidence that the Dallas/Nets trade rumor gained serious momentum after the Sixers game...

Normally, yes but this isn't normal circumstances and the reports on ESPN have been that this will NOT be pro-rated and that Van Horn will receive the full $4MIL even though there are only about 10 weeks left in the season. Gotta love that NBA CBA!

Twice as fast? Come on, maybe pre microfracture Kidd.

Age matters because Kidd is having the worst season of his career. This generally isn't a good thing this late in the game. They're isn't much precedent for point guards without good jump shots playing into their late 30s. Same thing goes for Miller when he gets to be Kidd's age.

Of course, they're is a difference between Kidd falling off his prime and Miller falling off his. Kidd will probably be at the very worst case an average player until he retires.

There is data for old point guards with no jump shots playing past their mid 30's, not that I would expect YOU to know about it.

In both cases Jason Kidd is a far better player than both of them. Mark Jackson and Rod Strickland. I believe that Andre Miller is the best example of WHY Jason Kidd still has many years left in the tank. It will take atleast 4 or more seasons for Jason Kidd's athleticism to reduce down to the level of Andre Miller's current athleticism. Kidd can play past 40 years of age. Kidd is a HOF true PG. Great PG's and Tall post players can play in the NBA forever.

I think that Kidd has 5 more seasons in him before he becomes an average NBA player. But even then his overall effectiveness will be weighted because he is a true playmaker and playmakers are very rare and IMPORTANT to the playing of a basketball game.

Mark Jackson and Rod Stickland???

http://www.nba.com/playerfile/mark_jackson/index.html

http://www.nba.com/playerfile/rod_strickland/

Neither are good examples of PGs playing well late in their career. Were they decent players? Yeah. But my point is that what the Mavs gave up is WAY too much for a "decent" or "average" NBA player.

Has there been any clarification about when the two picks are due? Since we had Dallas' pick last year, I assume the picks are for '09 and '11. I wonder if there's any protection on that 2nd pick because Kidd will be gone and Nowitzki will be at the end of his prime years (33).

Jackson's and Strickland's games took a big drop by the time they hit 35. Strickland's game took a pretty significant hit by the time he hit 33. And both of them had better jumpshots than Kidd. Strickland had a career eFG% of 46%, Jackson 48%, and Kidd 45%. In both cases for Strickland and Jackson, their eFG% would be higher if you didn't include years after they hit 34 (Kidd's age) because their eFG%'s dropped significantly in the latter parts of their careers. Not the best examples.

So I take it that you last two posters completely missed where I CLEARLY stated that Jason Kidd is a far better player than both Mark Jack and Rod Strickland implying that Jason Kidd will NOT suffer the same drop off in play?
Did you NOT read where I said that the slow of foot Andre Miller is the example of how effective Jason Kidd can be when he eventually slows down to where Andre Miller currently is?

Now that I've thought about it Dallas didn't overpay. Mark Cuban and his staff are functioning on a basketball level that most of the people that post on these boards can not comprehend. They make moves for now as well as several years down the line. Mark Cuban made this move to increase "The Window" as well as insure that this team will have the complete flexibility to retool and avoid having to rebuild and/or dump big money contracts trying to rebuild. It is clear that Cuban is trying to WIN NOW but at the same time has no problem with trading Dirk if this doesn't work out over the next couple of years.

Cuban will get his draft picks back if it ever gets to the point where he chooses to rebuild.

For all of you simple minded people, as long as Dirk is on the Mavericks Dallas is not suppose to have high draft picks so trading away 2 of them is meaningless.

Cuban has already set a precedent with Nash that he is more willing to be too early than too late. Cuban will retool the Mavericks far before the team gets to the point where their own draft picks have value.

Devin Harris is a small SG (which can be acquired easily), Diop is a stiff and 2 late round draft picks rarely even get you NBA players that can stay in the league for 7-8 years.

Did you not try to use those two players as examples of players with no jump shots playing past their mid-30's, all in order to show that Kidd will also be effective past his mid-30's?

I know you'll try to side-step the question, so I'll just answer it for you.

YES, you did. All me and TGP did was try to show that your comparison of Kidd to those players - your trying to use those two players to somehow show Kidd will still be playing at a high level past his mid-30s - is VERY flawed.

And the following quote is the only place you talk about those 2 players. Please point out where in that statement you actually imply Kidd won't suffer the same drop off in play as the other two. Not that that argument would make any sense anyways even if you did. Dropping off in production has nothing to do with how good you initially were.

In both cases Jason Kidd is a far better player than both of them. Mark Jackson and Rod Strickland.

Cuban is trying to make up for his mistake of letting Nash go. Unfortunately, two wrongs do not make a right- and his team will start to decline as Kidd does.

I guess there is nothing wrong in taking your shot for the next two years, as long as you realize your teams chances are pretty much shot after that.

Three Teams After Miller!

Three teams chasing Miller. Could get interesting...

With Kidd apparently spoken for, the player drawing the most attention from promising title contenders is Philly's Andre Miller. Nuggets, Cavaliers and Rockets are sincere suitors

Thanks for the link, STChaser.

Here's a piece from David Aldridge's column today...

David Aldridge wrote:The Sixers are trying to max out on cap room now so that Stefanski can use it this summer or next. And if the now-desperate Cavaliers, having lost out on Mike Bibby and Jason Kidd in a week, open up the vault to trade for Miller, Stefanski may have even more room by Thursday.

It'll be interesting to see if Cleveland can get something done considering Stefanski's demand for value and LeBron's apparent demands for help.
