Mike & Mike on ESPN said ok it wasn't a dunk IT WAS BETTER THAN A DUNK IT WAS A "FLUNK" That he flinged it at the rim. And it's much harder to do that than actually dunk the ball.

While the ppl on "First Take" just bashed it.

OMG.... I went through the first 12 pages of this nonsense soley because I was bored at work and had 8 hours to kill. But at one point I just had to jump ahead to avoid my head imploding or dying from apoplexy!

Jeez... Not only was this a dunk, defined by numerous seperate sources... Tracked down by numerous different MAGIC and otherwise posters in this thread. Agreed to by a panel of some of the BEST basketball players in history + Dawkins j/k and cuminating in the fact that he received the Trophy for the DUNK competition...

Not only was this a dunk, but stated by the announcers (one of which was Magic Johnson and Dr J./although yes I know Kenny Smith was the 1st to say it); as one of two dunks that Dwight completed that night which should be considered for spots as one of the top 5 dunks of all FRICKIN time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly, this has to be one of the sickest DUNKS, (yes DUNK) of all time! Many people might have been confused because he literally threw it down into the rim, which most mere mortals have never even thought of doing; as they cannot look down on a rim at any point in their life without a ladder. Even though... It's still a dunk ladies and gentlemen.

Seriously now, lets move on.

Maybe now we can talk about how this will positively affect the Magic for the remainder of the season?

Anyone?...

It was a dunk by definition. If you think otherwise get a dictionary and look it up for yourself.

For the internet challenged heres a great spot that gives you all the definitions

http://www.onelook.com/?w=dunk&ls=a

Unfortunately for our "Rocket scientist" most of them don't use the word thrust. They use words like throw, propel and put. they are all in agreement. The idea is to put the ball through from overhead with force.

end of story. Thats all a dunk is. Of course we've never seen it done like that Simply because we've never someone so tall jump that high. No one else has been able to propel the ball through from that height without touching the rim

Sorry for all my long winded responses in this thread. Ignorance masquerading as intelligence is always a bit annoying to me.

OF course sometimes you don't need to respond since the person isn't even masquerading any intelligence.

A)http://www.onelook.com/?w=layup&ls=a

B) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Layup
A layup in basketball is a two point attempt made by leaping from below, laying the ball up near the basket, and using one hand to tip the ball over the rim and into the basket (layin) or to bank it off the backboard and into the basket (layup). The motion and one-handed reach distinguish it from a jump shot. The layup is considered the most basic shot in basketball.

I drew the white line. Notice that the line is parallel to the rim, so it fairly accurately shows the ball's height in relation the rim.

Also notice the rim as it looks "flat" - so the video appears to be taken from roughly the height of the rim.

He's too firmly entrenched in his belief to see the preponderance of evidence suggesting otherwise.

Or sees the error of his way and is trying to save face by defending his position to the very end.

Option 3, if you will, he just enjoys a good argument.

I provided 2 dictionary quotes indicating the ball is coming from beneath the rim. Additionally, there's been visual evidence provided as well.

Are you going to argue against multiple dictionaries?

Thinking of "good" in reference to quantity - 27 thus far - not in the sense of quality.
