I don't know if they do this every year, but, it'd be a good idea.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

It would be great if he finds some way to "fix" the lotto. I love seeing other team fans bitching and whining about the Knicks. Plus, we get #1 pick. :)

The GM's or a representative are in the room when they do the whole lottery thing.

IIRC, Kevin Pritchard was in the room when Portland got the first pick, then called Paul Allen. They aren't allowed to really tell anyone else until after the unveiling, because the announcement is just really there for tv ratings anyways...and spoiling it would reduce that.
Thank you for all the memories BRoy. You were a class act and brought hope to an entire region for 5 years. You will be missed.

Celtics don't get a top two pick and it's Stern punishing them for tanking, then they land Garnett and Ray and suddenly Stern forced Mchale to make the trade to make an east coast team relevant again. :nonono:

I noticed I don't see any conspiracy theories from fans of teams that have a championship in the last few years. People will believe anything to try and justify why there team lost.

That's not really all that amazing, Being the biggest market I would have expected more success, but there is only 1 champion each year and there are 30 teams in the league. Every season there are 29 teams that don't win and unlike the NFL or MLB, dynasties are pretty common in the NBA, we had the Celtics and Lakers in the 80's, Pistons in the early 90's, Chicago and Houston in the mid 90's, the Lakers and Spurs in the late 90's and early 2000's. Put it like this there are 18 teams in the NBA who have not won a championship since the Knicks won it.

Quit whining ya'll. Knicks haven't won the lottery since 1985. 22 years. Meanwhile teams like Orlando, Atlanta, and the Blazers seem to always get top 5.

The Knicks are Stern's favorite team. Isaiah's not Stern's favorite, however. Seems like Stern is hinting at an Ewing lotto redux. The envelope was bent STERN!

Best Jazz lotto pick in lotto history = #6. (we had best odds for #4 that year)

Cry me a river NY.

they will have won it off the lottery. You people need to grow up, I bet the only people accusing them of rigging the draft are people under the age of 20, or those of a rather low level of intelligence and maturity.

By that quote, I didn't mean any disrespect to the Knicks. I want to see people's reaction. Thanks.

stern's the commissioner of the league...meaning he works FOR the owners, not the other way around.

Stern saying the knicks will be better next year is akin to any guy playing in the finals that his team is gonna win. You have to positively promote.

The hell is stern gonna say...the knicks (aka our biggest market in the entire league by a considerable margin) will suck ass again...thus pissing off dolan and doing a disservice to the NBA as a whole?

Stern will never say the knicks will be worse....that's like publicly calling the highest-spending investor in your firm an idiot. In truth, dolan deserves no praise, but stern works for dolan, not the other way around. You kiss the ass of your boss.

besides aquiring Vince Carter and Jermaine O'neal, I see no way our team can be worse next year. OR if we draft Roy Hibbert, Eric Gordon, or Bayless then we will be worse too.

The fix is on, the Knicks will get Michael Beasley with the #1 pick this year.

Book it.

wow yea, if you watch the knicks you would know we couldn't possibly need anymore scoring or rebounding. That is a horizontal move replacing randolph with beasley.

There are so many talented players coming out next season the Knicks don't need the number one pick to get a superstar like talent. They can get a superstar talent if they have a top five pick.

If Isiah is still in NY, the rest of the league is safe.
