I doubt Nash will be around to be a role player. I see him as leaving on top or as close to as it can. I could see him playing through his contract at the most and thats it. Like Tiki Barber did (minus the talking). He has other stuff going on, and will probably move onto to that.

Nash will probably be re-signed as a role player when is contract is up and Shaq will be defintely retire .The FO will defintely need to make some smart moves so that we can keep the talent level up and keep Amare as a sun

After the 2009-2010 season, barring any new contracts, we will only be on the books for about $30,000,000. It's $28,362,775 right now, but I think Amare is on a graduated contract that sees him earning the max every year. I'm pretty sure Barbosa and Diaw are on level contracts.
The salary cap and lux tax will be higher by then. It's $55,630,000 now. The salary cap is always 51% of basketball related income, divided by all of the teams in the league. It grows at about 2-3 million a year it seems. Call the salary cap $60,000,000 in two years.

The Suns will have a cool $30,000,000 to throw around. Again, barring any major moves in the mean time.

Boris is on a level salary structure. LB is not. He will make $7.1m in 2010.

Don't we wish Nash would stay and take the vet min? It's completely selfish and, for his sake, I hope he doesn't. However, seeing as how this has largely devolved into a fantasy discussion... I would like to jump in.

I think landing Paul isn't that out there. LeBron? A bit out there, sure. Nash as a role player behind a more atheletic version of himself in Paul? Even less likely....

LeBron and Amare play well on the USA national team. Nash and Paul played extremely well together on the West ALl-Star team.

Still. If Amare doesn't end his career as a Sun it will be management's fault. I wasn't even fond of the idea of shipping Amare for Garnett... if we ever get anything less or nothing at all and lose him in the process... the Suns as a franchise would be over for years.

CP3 A Sun has been in my mind a bit since Jerry Colangelo took over team USA. I honestly think theres a decent chance he does not sign an extension in New Orleans due to the uncertainty of the franchises future in that city. I guess we will have to just wait and see.

You guys need to check the timing on contracts.

LeBron is under contract until 2011 and has a player option for 2012.

Shaq is still under contract the year Chris Paul's current deal is up. Amare has a player option that year, which I expect he'll take. That means that you don't really have a ton of money to sign Chris Paul unless Amare doesn't exercise his option. Nash's contract alone won't get it done.

I should note that almost the entire Blazers team is available 2009-2010 (unless they get extended). That's some real talent there.

why are you guys bringing up NO, the Hornets are leaving there after next year. That city can't handle a NBA franchise NOW, or even before Hurricane Katrina.

don't talk about something you don't know. if you knew anything about the hornets, they are making great strides in attendance - and we just sold out the freaking grizzlies!

stick to watching the knicks! can't wait till they blowout you guys twice this season. neither can the suns!

i hate it when ppl talk like that about teams like that. if you loved the nba, you wouldn't root for a city to lose its team. i hate it that the sonics might lose their team, and rooting for new orleans to fail just shows how little heart you have.

again, looking forward to when both the suns and the hornets cruise to massive blowout wins against the pathetic knicks. having a big city has never had anything to do with putting out a good product.
