Pat Riley trying to make a trade with Portland?

Post#1 » by Spykes » Tue Feb 19, 2008 10:27 pm

Just caught this from BBB.net, it apparently is from the same Chad Ford piece that contained the Granger rumor...

Miami Heat

The Shawn Marion trade may just be the tip of the iceberg for Miami. Pat Riley won't ever move into true rebuilding mode.

He's trying to use the expiring contracts of Jason Williams and Ricky Davis to add a couple of more pieces to the Heat's core. He's been eyeing Mike Miller and Kyle Lowry from Memphis as well as some of the Blazers.

Those expiring contracts could be pretty nice if the Heat would be willing to take Miles in the process. I wonder which players he's targeting though?

I could see him really taking a look at Jarret Jack. Jack/Wade/Marion/Lotto Pick is a good start.

I dont see how a expiring deal really help the blazers at this point.

Not sure if I like the idea of Martell for Cook. I would certainly deal Jack though.

I'm a huge fan of Cook's, but he's going to become redundant next season with Rudy coming over.

Im a huge Cook fan and would love it if we got him, but that would mean one of either Rudy being moved in a trade (doubt it), or Roy is the future PG and Rudy will be the SG with Cook off the bench. Doubt that either of those happen, and really doubt Miami trades him anyways

outside of the obvious trio of Wade, Marion and their high lotto pick, I dont see anything I want from Miami.

I would certainly do a JWill or Roach for Miles/Jack/future 1st deal.

Immediatley cutting JWill or Roach.

trading Jack, Webster, Przybilla, Miles, Lafrentz, and Green for Williams, Davis, Blount and Cook (or another $1 million in filler) would get the Blazers well under the cap next year.

Just something to think about.
