As in, I am positive the Cavaliers would leave Larry Hughes unprotected because of his massive contract. I feel the Magic might do the same with Rashard Lewis. Hughes is certainly not worth his contract, and while Lewis might be more debatable... no expansion team is going to want to pick up that large a contract, period.
Right, but you also have to remember that you need to still put out a competitive team and leaving one of your 3 best guys unprotected might not sit well.

8.theo ratliff? it's hard to think that a player that's basically been reduced to an expiring contract would be taken

You'd protect Mobley? Why? I still like the guy, but there's virtually no chance an expansion team takes him, and even if they did you'd save a kajillion dollars. Why not protect, say, Davis instead?

Copycat.
Yeah, I was thinking the same thing before seeing either your posts. The Pistons' situation is pretty obvious even though we'd be making a starter available. The only person who got it wrong was the guy who did every team - he had MyDyess in and Amir out.

Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

You are correct, Gerald would definitely be unprotected. This makes me wish there were an expansion draft...
I feel really sorry for gerald. I mean we minny fans dislike him for obvious reasons but whenever he plays I feel sorry for him because I know he tries hard but he also has lot of bad luck sometimes. if he only could have a better shot selection I'd be really really happy with him

I'm just hopeful he finds a good situation next year. An expansion draft would be especially good for a player like him, like it was for Gerald Wallace. That of course won't happen, so the best I can hope for is he finds his way into the rotation of a run and gun type team.
His shot selection looks especially bad right now because he's trying to do too much in his limited playing time. Last year his shot selection wasn't exactly great, but he still posted a TS% of .512 for the year, and it was over .54 for the first 78 games of the season (he then caught the flu and shot 4-26 in the final 3 games). He's a streaky shooter, but if he's playing consistently it all tends to even out.
