However, it is pretty clear that Ferry is not going to make a trade that Cleveland is not the clear winner. Because of that I don't see us making a trade at all this year (which I actually think is a good thing). Next year on the other hand we need to parlay those expirings into something of some worth.
Thats what I've been saying for the last 3 months.
We have to wait until next year.
And that isn't such a bad thing. Its called patience..
patience is a what?
a virtue

That's not always true..
Shaq signed with the Lakers. Gilbert Arenas signed with the Wizards. Joe Johnson signed with the Hawks. Your boy Boozer signed with the Jazz. There are many, many others.
I think there are more traded players.. mostly because teams don't like to lose their stars for nothing. But not ALL the big names are traded.
I'm betting some big names are going to opt out this off season..
some big names on the list of ETOs....
Joe Johnson didn't sign with the Hawks he was traded.
The real point is that no max player has signed with another team since the salary cap was established. Boozer and Arenas were second rounders who signed for more than their teams could offer. That loophole has now been closed. Shaq signed before the cap existed.
So feel free to try again.

Outlaw, i didnt call him a name. I said by not doing his homework on our cap situation and making outlandish statements, it is him that sounds like a fool.
I would send you a pm about this but apparently I am not allowed to send you pm's.
You should know me better than this about calling people out. I dont post here a lot but I am a long time cavs poster on other boards im sure you read.

LeBron was making fun of the media for degrading our team. It was all sarcastic. Even though the article is extremely slanted you can still get from it that LeBron was upset at the media. Actually read the article next time.
I am very convinced that Sam Smith is dumb enough not to catch the sarcasm.
Lebron is not going anywhere. Hometown thing is overrated, but Cleveland being the team that drafted him will be the team with the most upfront money to offer for an extension. Teams would have to trade the house and surround him with DLeague players or take a trip to Lux Tax Island to ever aquire Lebron or Wade in 2 years.
Bets situation for Lebron is the Cavaliers. Few mistakes in signing players like Hughes, but once some of these contracts expire, you will be able to surround him with some real players that fit him well.

NO THANK YOU!!
The Cavaliers aren't interested in a 30 year old pg who doesn't play defense and makes 9Million dollars for 4 more years.
I'd rather keep Hughes than take that contract!
Dallas has put themselves is salary-cap hell...you better hope for a championship THIS year, because your chances of winning a title are slipping RAPIDLY!
The "ONLY" player that we'd be interested in is Jason Kidd (We'll give you ONE 1st round pick and filler) or Dirk (Who your coach wanted to trade away); We'll give you Larry and Ira plus a 1st round pick for Dirk.
Otherwise... Dallas has NOTHING that even remotely looks beneficial to the Cavs!

I pretty-much agree with this post, although there are a couple gray areas.
The Cavaliers may be able to offer him the largest contract, but if he goes to one of three cities (Chicago,L.A., or New York), then his contract with Nike increases by 3 million per year. That would cover the loss of contractual monies. And the exposure in a larger metropolis would probably mean more exposure and contracts....He does want to be a global Icon.
That being said... I believe that he will stay in Cleveland (Barring some unforeseen disaster) because he is a smart kid, and he wants his name imprinted as a LEGEND... He could be remembered as one of the greatest ANYWHERE...but, if he went to Chicago, he'd ALWAYS be dealing with MJ, and New York and L.A. have similar players (Magic,Kobe,Walt Frazier,Ewing, etc). In-addition, each of those cities have multiple championships.
The lone exception would be the NETS, who move to Brooklyn in 09. Their best known players are Buck Williams and Darryl Dawkins (Excluding J-Kidd). They have only had one 50-win season in their history. IF he went ANYWHERE, that would be the place (and it appears that Thorn is angling to make such a move now).
However, In Cleveland he has already set a brand-name and cemented himself as a legend. Although he would no-doubt be legendary in Jersey, he'd also be competing against all other NY sports for air-time. In Cleveland, he will ALWAYS remain the #1 single sports figure in the city AND state. In NY, he'd compete against the Yankees big payroll of stars AND the Mets,Knicks,Giants,Jets and the hockey teams (to a much lesser extent).
In-addition, he does like the cleveland area, and his mother LOVES ohio, as does his former coach and father-figure. Add to that, his entire "crew" lives in Ohio, and he is building a 50,000+ SF mansion... and the chances are that he will stay in Cleveland - as long as the Cavs don't do something to "force" him to leave.

My fault... Johnson was traded.. but understand this then..
2004 Steve Nash signs with the Phoenix Suns as a free agent...
Since then he has won 2 MVPs..
It happens!!
This year at least one of the big names will use his ETO..
there's a lot of frustration in some of those situations..
Guys who want to win will opt out.. possibly even do the unthinkable and take less money to do it..
Is my Nash example good enough for you???
