POLL: What will the Magic LIKELY do b4 the Trade Deadline?

Post#1 » by laVal03 » Wed Feb 20, 2008 6:17 pm

Alright guys, I know alot of you are like me and this waiting around for the trade deadline is killing you. Since it has been quiet I figured I would get everyones opinion on what is LIKELY to happen? Not what you want to happen

I personally think we will end up with Kurt Thomas and might have to take back one of their guards.

Discuss.

The Magic will do nothing.

I'd be very happy if that happened while only trading away arroyo, garrity, and bogans I'm even fine with throwing in JJ

I hope we can keep evans and dooling in any trade

I am dreading hearing tomorrow after 3 p.m.

Otis
"We just didn't see any deals that made good basketball sense"

but then again I would rather hear that than a trade happening that is lopsided in the other teams favor or does not improve us

Unfortunately I think its going to be K.T. and one of their pg's. There is no reason for them to trade him by himself, because Kurt is also an expiring contract. We'd have to either include a draft pick, which would be silly, or we take a semi-bad contract for them to help with their rebuild. I'm hoping its Wilcox, or at the very least if we do get Kurt, that Ridnour will be the one packaged with him. Which means, we will probably end up with Kurt and Watson.

i really think its almost a garuntee we will get kurt thomas at least. what comes with him im not sure. i seriously doubt the miller garcia, haslem, or wilcox. i think it would be amazing if we could land haslem or wilcox (i look at them as very similar players) and wilcox might be doable but jj would have to be included and thats not happening same with haslem (and miami isnt gonna trade with us unless they can hurt us). The brad miller garcia trade just isnt gonna happen the luxery cap was to big of an issue so we had a 56 pg thread for nothing. but i see kurt thomas in blue by friday

Sucks but i think well stay how we are. Even though i do think making the Miller trade makes us more flexible having a pretty big salary that can be moved in 2 years to get us a good player and give us a shot in the East.

The mumbling idiot is going to either do nothing or trade for kurt thomas. Ive been saying for a day now, JJ Redick/Keith Bogans and an expiring for thomas. Thats an otis smith move.

Its either that or nothing. I think its more likely that we do absolutely nothing so i voted for that.

If the brad miller and garcia deal was on the table and mumbleman said no he should be fired. Well actually he should have been fired months ago, but this is just another reason to do it.
You know the boy posts on realgm. The boy definitly posts on realgm.

Jason (Washington, DC): Lots of talk of Kurt Thomas going to Orlando. Any update on that?

Chad Ford: (1:15 PM ET ) I was hearing strongly this morning that the Magic where in the lead to acquire Thomas' services. He'd be a good fit in Orlando and they have the expiring contracts to make it happen. But is a guy in the last year of his deal worth a first round pick as well? That's a steep price. I think there are other deals Orlando could get that would give them a younger, more productive four. They might have to trade Turkoglu (who admittedly has been great this year) ... but if they could shore up their front line and move Rashard Lewis back to his natural position, they should do it.

Orlando carries a lot of expirings, and the last couple weeks have shown how valuable they can be to teams not in the play-off chase. I think that Orlando is in the driver's seat, and has more options than the ones above. I suspect at least a small deal.

These were discussed yesterday on the trade boards:

MN Die Hard wrote:Garrity, Dooling, Arroyo, Battie, and 2008 #1

for

Theo, Smith, Green, and Jaric

Change for Orlando: +14.5 ppg, +9.7 rpg, and +0.9 apg.

This slides in just under the salary match, and only uses one of your best expirings:

ORL GETS: Craig Smith, Jaric, Chris Richard
MIN GETS: Garrity, Augustine, Gortat

Change in Team Outlook: +16.4 ppg, +7.2 rpg, and +4.4 apg.
