Why, because he's on pace to have his first 50-win season ever? Maybe because he started 1-10 before getting canned because he couldn't win with prime McGrady? Or is it his stellar 8-14 playoff record?

Gimme a reason to put Doc Rivers in the top 10. Besides Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett.

How the hell is Riley on the top of anyone's list? He coaches the worst team record wise in the NBA in one of the worst conferences in NBA history, and has a franchise player on the team.

Sloan 3 years ago managed to get a crappy Jazz team to a .500 record whose best player was a halfway decent Andrei Kirilenko and a bunch of scrubs.

On second thought, I think I snubbed Flip Saunders in my top 10. He'd be around 7, bumping the rest down.

Success with drastically different styles of play over many NBA generations. Three-time coach of the year. Eighteen seasons with a win percentage better than .600. 1204 regular season wins and 171 playoff wins. He's won a title within the past 5 years. How many coaches can you say this for?

I'm not saying Riley is a bad coach. But with this year's performance it's hard to say that he's one of the best coaches in the league. The Heat aren't just a bad team, they are the worst team in the league.

I sincerely doubt there's a coach in the game who could have kept the Lakers from imploding far earlier than they did. Before he showed up, the Lakers were relying almost exclusively on talent and getting swept out of the playoffs as a result. After he showed up, they started playing like a team and winning championships.

He's never been short of talent. But look at the top of most people's lists and tell me who has. Riley? Popovich? Both of those guys have also had a wealth of talent to work with. In fact, name me a coach in the history of sports who has won multiple championships without talent.
