When put that way, I don't see how it could work. Thomas/Watson make too much, a lot more than our expirings that are available (Arroyo and Garrity). Dooling and Evans also expiring, but I doubt they are available.

However, we could trade Arroyo and Garrity straight up for Wilcox. Don't know if Seattle is looking to trade Wilcox though.

you heard otis, he's not gonna make a deal just to make a deal. We're 13 games over .500, leading our division by a quite a bit, and have pretty good chemistry. if it ain't broke, don't fix it

If otis smith cant flip our expiring contracts and young talent for a good player he really needs to be fired. Kurt Thomas sucks and would NOT be counted as a good player. It would be counted as another otis smith type of player, another brian cook if you will.

ya but thats not all you meant. you made it clear you think otis shouldve been fired a while ago so i assume that means you dont like him and think hes stupid, as far as the brian cook thing, hes playing decent for us right now so otis looks good on that part of picking him and evans up for a re-injured ariza.

They had Cuban on the stage during the Kidd press conference. He said that he's always looking to improve the team. He speaks regularly with the other guys who run them team, and "99% of the time" nothing comes of it.

So obviously it's not as simple as "flipping" exprings for a good player. Additionally, it's not Oti$' team. So he could come up with something that he feels is great for the team, but is vetoed by BVW for one reason or another.

IMO getting Kurt Thomas and an overpaid PG would be a really bad turnover for our expirings.

A 4 month rental when we can add a real piece?

Its just like not making a move at all and its all over money.

If we end up getting Kurt Thomas...Why didnt we just get Chris Webber for the MIN?

NBA trading deadline: Seven deals that should happen

3. Kurt Thomas to Orlando

The Seattle SuperSonics should trade Kurt Thomas to the Orlando Magic for Keyon Dooling, James Augustine and Pat Garrity. Thomas has been a trooper in Seattle, and Ol' Crazy Eyes is currently standing in the way of all those unproven big men like Robert Swift and Johan Petro.

This trade would open up minutes for the kids and would allow Thomas one last shot at a ring and the Sonics to keep what they crave most -- a strip-mined roster full of expiring contracts (and more cap room than Thomas alone would provide).

Why this trade matters? Pairing Thomas with Dwight Howard, aka Young Thunder, could have major, major playoff implications. Remember, Thomas is a guy who can defend Tim Duncan.

Arroyo instead of Dooling, and then it would be just fine.

Whyyyyyyyyyy Dooling? He has been one of the more consistant guys we have. It should be Arroyo and whatever else it takes to get either Watson or Ridnour in the deal as well.

Where is the Trade Grant Hill option

I think the most likely option is nothing.

If we actually make a move I see Seattle being our trading partner, and Kurt Thomas coming to town likely with another Sonic or two.

Edit: Oh and in response to the above, I think Seattle would push for Dooling much more than Arroyo, they could at least play Dooling at SG, unless we take back one of their PG's giving them Arroyo would really just hurt their team.

would be very happy with wilcox and watson. would be ecstatic for miller and garcia. i would be willing to part with anyone not in the starting 5 in order to get miller and garcia.
